Grassy aroma with a hint of fresh bread underneath. Just the aroma alone whisks me away to Bavaria, Germany. Flavor is a very sweet malt, very smooth and a bit creamy. Finishes with a crisp bitterness and a grassy hop bitterness. Very mild and easy drinking. Absolutely perfect! Prost Phatz (225), Paradise, Pennsylvania, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Sep 2, 2006 Appearance: The clarity is spectacular. It pours a pale golden color and showcase tremendous carbonation activity. The lacing is spotty and ideal.
Smell: This beer has the essence of freshness. What does that mean? I’m not exactly sure how to explain the super fresh cut grain aroma and the sweet malt only added to it. There in a nice light floral hop aroma as well.
Taste: Everything about this beer is simple and clean. It is not big and complex in the American style. It is classically simple and tasty making it incredibly sessionable. This must be one of the most thirst quenching lagers I’ve tasted. It is built with a solid malt backbone and sprinkled lightly with a floral hop character. It is as simple as that. The aftertaste lingers on and on with a nice clean dry feel.
Mouthfeel: crisp light and very easy this beer is exceptionally crisp and clean with a lip smacking dryness and a tingly finish.
Drinkability: If you are looking something complex to analyze this is the wrong choice. If you are looking for a case of a quaffable authentic German Lager to serve at your next cook out this summer there would be few better choices than Weihenstephaner Original.
Hope this is helpful.

Aromas are surprisingly low-toned, with toast, ripe fruit, and spice.
Carbonation is high but exquisitely fine, lending a more substantial mouthfeel to this otherwise light-bodied brew. Flavors are light and more restrained than the nose, leaning towards the sweet side of the spectrum.
Outstanding - however, the sweetness means this is not the best option for a refreshing, quaffing lager. donteatpoop (125), Youngstown, Ohio, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Apr 9, 2009 A clear yellow that glows like the sun, medium white head resting atop it. Good retention, delicate lacing effect.
Smelled faintly of hops and grains.
Nice mellow taste. No real glitz or glamour, just a solid tasting beer.
Goes down smoothe, crisp and refreshing.
This is a very drinkable beer. I think that if I needed to sit down and drink all day (we’ll call that day "saturday") this would be a perfect beer for the ocassion. 21iceman40 (1731), vienna, West Virginia, USA

It was quality for the most part, but lacked greatness. A lil bit to clean of a brew for me, it needed a little more head and color. Braudog (3789), Dayton, Ohio, USA

Yummy sharp malt flavors with the mellow bitterness familiar in German beers. Quite buttery. This is pretty good stuff! Cobra (1066), In a van, down by the river, Maryland, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jun 13, 2003 My first Weihenstephaner beer. Came in a tall, 16 oz. brown bottle. Poured out the color of fresh hay, a very light golden color. Has a fast fading head that left a ring of fine, misty bubbles around the rim of the glass. This is the lightest colored beer I've ever seen. Aromas mostly of fresh hay, with some grassy notes as well. Hersbrucker hops come to the forefront of the aromas as you drink it. Very crisp & refreshing on the palate. I imagine it would go great with some knockwurst, and German Chocolate Cake. A really well made, well balanced beer. Finishes very smoothly. I really like this beer, you might too. beermatrix (1497), Twin Cities, Minnesota, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 23, 2004 Brightly clear, light golden dulled yellow color with a thin white frothed cap that faded off quickly. Smell has a nice crisp and clean herbal essence with a soft, fresh bread roll dough. Quite nice, a firm crispness and sweet doughy breading for its nose, which really comes together as it warms. Taste is a nice crisp and clean hop, some dried herbal variants float around that are light and airy with a nice and firm bread dough sweetish malt backing. Totally reminds me of the dough used for white bread rolls or cresent rolls. Feel is a bit lighter on the body but the super clean, super crispness makes up for the lack there of. Kinda sweet and very smooth, quick crispness at first with a lightly dry breadish souring finish thats nice. A pretty darn good Helles thats easy, clean, crisp, and drinkably good. Yum.
