Slightly bitter, mild, with a fragrance of hops - our pilsner is a cut above the ordinary. A beer with character.

Reviewed 12/23/2012. 11.2 oz bottle into a pilsner glass. A: Pours a medium straw color with great clarity. The head is a two finger white color with nice retention. The head retains more strongly away from the glass, creating a ’floater’...usually a sign of a hoppy beer. Intrigued! S: Very well hopped, which I always like. Tons of grassy, zesty noble hops overpower - in a good way - the pale malts. T: Light malt sweetness gives way to pure grassy hop goodness. Simple, but it works here. The only real complaint I have is that the finish isn’t quite as balanced as I like. As such, it’s a bit less drinkable than it could be. Having said that, it grows on me. M: The carbonation grants this a coarse, tingly sensation on the palate. It’s not entirely bone dry on the finish, either. If anything, it’s more a pils to savor, rather than one to chug. O: I feel that pilsners - when they’re done well - provide a great example of simple refreshment in lieu of water. This is one I feel that stacks up nicely. It strikes a middle ground between the intensity of Prima Pils and the delicacy of Pilsner Urquell.

Bottle. Poured a clear pale color with an average to large frothy white head that lasted and had good lacing. Moderate grass hop aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium sweet flavor with a medium sweet dry finish of moderate duration. This beer met my expectations.

bottle @ Party Town / Florence KY --- Appealing aroma of malt and floral hops. Clear straw amber color with a generous 1" rocky white head, strips of lace. Taste is clear light malt that adds floral hops and carbonation on the swallow, all parts moving neatly through a short finish. A thirst quenching pilsner, better than most.

Tap at Weihenstephaner pub in Tbilisi (40 cl / 5.50 GEL). Near clear pale golden; head bright white, beautiful, soft, fluffy. Excellent retention, fantastic lacing! Bubbling still after a while. This is a 5/5! Nose... at first it feels like sniffing a handful of noble hop pellets... it just seems so raw and grassy, I almost get the feeling this beer is meant for cows to eat. The citrusy-rhubarby raw sourness-bitterness is overwhelming - I am not a fan but I’m terribly intrigued. Taste is kinda similar with the raw, grassy hoppiness very much present, but it also has a palate-scraping grainy sidenote. Palate on the dry side, slightly sticky on the roof of the mouth, grainy, thick but not heavy, carbonation active. A strange, raw Pilsener, I’ve never had anything like this before. Could not help but feel intrigued, and I did enjoy contemplating on it - that calls for extra points, doesn’t it.

Bottle. It’s a crystal clear golden beer with a finger-thick, dense, off-white head leaving cute lacings. The aroma has a little touch of pale malts, with a nice fruityness, some grass and pine cones and a faint citrusy touch. It’s medium to full-bodied, with a pleasant carbonation level, semi-dry on the palate. Grains, fruityness, some sweetness and a nice, balancing bitterness in the flavor, with some grassy, piney and faintly peppery hints in the finish. This is what a pilsner should taste, far from the bland industrial lagers claiming to be a pilsner. Moreish. 141207

Bottle 330ml @ Geokkjer
Pours clear golden with a white head. Aroma has notes of malt, grass and floral. Taste is medium sweet and light to medium bitter with a long malty, grassy and floral finish. Body is light to medium, texture is thin to oily, carbonation is soft.

A: Pours a pale yellow color with a big white bubbled white head. Medium retention and many many lacings left in the glass. S: Extremely simple smell. Sweet grains, honey and flowery hops. White bread Lager yeasts style. T: Follows the nose. Again, extremely simple. Dominated by sweet malts. Honey. Very crispy and bready. Light pleasant citrus and flowery hops bitterness. M: Smooth light body. Medium to low carbonation. Very drinkable. Nice bitter end. O: Good drinkability. Very decent German Pilsener. Weihenstephaner quality. Recommended. [ BA Review @ 7/24/2011 ]
