3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Reviewed 12/23/2012. 11.2 oz bottle into a pilsner glass.
A: Pours a medium straw color with great clarity. The head is a two finger white color with nice retention. The head retains more strongly away from the glass, creating a ’floater’...usually a sign of a hoppy beer. Intrigued!
S: Very well hopped, which I always like. Tons of grassy, zesty noble hops overpower - in a good way - the pale malts.
T: Light malt sweetness gives way to pure grassy hop goodness. Simple, but it works here. The only real complaint I have is that the finish isn’t quite as balanced as I like. As such, it’s a bit less drinkable than it could be. Having said that, it grows on me.
M: The carbonation grants this a coarse, tingly sensation on the palate. It’s not entirely bone dry on the finish, either. If anything, it’s more a pils to savor, rather than one to chug.
O: I feel that pilsners - when they’re done well - provide a great example of simple refreshment in lieu of water. This is one I feel that stacks up nicely. It strikes a middle ground between the intensity of Prima Pils and the delicacy of Pilsner Urquell.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Head is initially average sized, frothy, white, mostly diminishing.
Body is light yellow.
Aroma is lightly malty (toasted grain, cracker), lightly to moderately hoppy (herbs, flowers).
Flavor is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly bitter.
Finish is lightly sweet, lightly to moderately bitter.
Light to medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation.
A clean, crisp, northern German style, a la Bitburger (but cleaner than Bitburger is today, i.e. no DMS here). Enjoyable but very by-the-numbers and ordinary.

2.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
BB 13.02.15. Poured a clear pale golden colour with a big (4+ finger) head that persisted and laced well. Carbonation moderate with large bubbles forming trails. Aroma of sweet malt, larger yeast but no obvious hops. Taste slightly malty sweetness but dominated by a sour bitterness. Light body. Crisp, light with a long mild bitterness on the finish. A nice pilsner.

Weihenstephan Pilsner is a classic pilsner. Thin bodied and with a pronounced bitterness from hops.

I love this beer/ Great golden color. Great Aroma. Great flavors. This beer is wonderful. You just can’t beat the Germans when it comes to Pilsners...unless you’re Czech!

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Straw color with snow white thin head. Smells lightly of sourdough, honey, cheerios, and citrus. Clean and light. Well-balanced between a mild sweetness and a clean light hop finish. I prefer them this way, with slightly more bitter than sweet. One my husband and I can agree on.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle pour. Clear pale gold in glass. You could read the evening paper through this. Active white head. No lacing. Full, distinctly German nose. Table bread and grassy hops. Taste is straw, just a small amount of citrus and a honey sweetness that creeps in on warming. Perfectly carbonated, almost creamy. I’m glad to see this sold by the sixer; one is not enough.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
Aroma: Semi-sweet, lightly grainy malts with a well balanced lemon grass hop presence. The aroma on this beer is spot on for what I expect a German Pils to be. Appearance: Royal gold body with lively carbonation, supporting a foamy white cap that dissipates into a smaller, frothy cap. Flavor: Lemongrass and semi-sweet malts crescendo together and finish with a lingering grassy bitterness. Palate: Medium body, creamy texture, lively carbonation, bitter finish. Overall: For me, just about perfect all around. If they made cans of this, it would be the perfect camping beer.

3.1 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
The appearance fuses a clear yellow color with a large white head, and the aroma is mostly skunky with hints of light malts and dough yeast. The taste is mildly sour and slightly sweet, and the palate fuses an average carbonation, thin and slick texture, light body, and a slightly sour finish.
