COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Over 1000 years of brewery experience together with American innovation, two years of development and the four ingredients malt, hops, water, and yeast resulted in a new dimension of the art of brewing and in an innovative, ground-breaking beer: Infinium. The sparkling beer is complex, unique in taste and produced strictly according to the German purity law. This sparkling beer is dry and strong in taste despite the more the 10 percent by volume alcohol and unsettles preconceived opinion about the limits of the German purity law. The strong, deep golden beer will enter the market in noble, corked, 0.75 liter bottles. The joint venture of Weihenstephan and Samuel Adams unites a new way of thinking about the world of the American extreme.

My 1000th rated German beer.
Deep golden honey color, small, almost vanishing white head. Sticky berryish, sweetish and grainy aroma. Full-bodied. Sparkling, active carbonation. Fruity, banana, apple flavor with sticky grassy and grainy ryeish notes. Quite harsh, Belgian yeasty brew. Similar to Leffe 9. Kind of DeuS copy and as good (bad) as DeuS. Quite poor quality/price-ratio (19€ per bottle).

2011 bottle. Lightly hazy orange pour with a 3 finger, creamy, off white head that has great retention and leaves some nice layers of semi-lacing that aren’t quite lacing as they slowly meander their way down the inside of the glass as it sits. Aroma is toffee, caramel, loads of figgy dark fruit, some sharp ginger and clove spice, bananas foster, and light spicy hops. Flavor is surprisingly a little tart, vinous and a little sour up front leading to the toffee and caramel maltiness coming through, nice dark fruit, again fig heavy, but raisin seems pretty noticeable as well, green wood, pine shoots, toast, hay, and a little woody vanilla gets stronger as it warms. Medium body with a chewy entry, strong, sharp and blanketing carbonation (much like champagne, but the bubble seems larger), leading to a fairly dry, sharp finish. The carbonation drops off fairly quickly to a pretty pleasant moderate strength, blanketing and somewhat sharp level after a few minutes, but right out of the bottle it is a little oppressive. Pretty good stuff, definitely different, like somebody blended an English Barleywine, Flanders Red, and champagne and aged it in white wine barrels, or something, it’s strange.

My wife bought this for our anniversary. I give her a 10 for effort. Id rather have champagne. Or a beer. But not this for the price. It would have been outstanding at a $4.99 price point.

Bottle. Slightly sour aroma. Pours amber/orange with large white head that dissipates quickly due to high carbonation. Taste is very, very sour, too sour for my tastes. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Had not much hope for this after reading the reviews, but i found it great. A strong, balanced beligan beer with some almonds and marcipan lurking. Not sour at all. Great with cake.

Head: beige, medium, sparkling, zero retention. Colour: amber, clear. Aroma: wild yeast/old cheese-like sharpness, some uber-sweet dried fruit like fig, vinous and some alcohol too. Taste: quite sweet, sweet dried fruit, some alcoholic/phenolic spiciness, but no actual ethanol detected. Still you can feel its warming effect. Whether it’s a belgian style or not - I don’t know, but certainly has that alcoholic phenolic character. In the end, it’s a quite sweet, desert beer. Cool looking for special occasions.

2011 Vintage poured on 4/22/13. Says enjoy before July 2012. Whatevs. Pours clear light copper with a big frothy head. Aroma of funky yeast, pear, peaches, mango, pineapple, and a hint of spice (coriander?). Some definite honey aroma. Actually quite aromatic and fruity. Flavor has a sharp strange bite. Almost like it is sour. Very dry with lots of carbonation. Light and slick mouthfeel. The sharpness takes away from what seems to be a nice fruity Belgian/Saison brew. Did something go wrong? Not bad overall, but this could have been better. Does seem to grow on me as it goes, with fruit flavors coming out.

Bottle from munich airport. Clear amber red color, white head disappearing quickly. Nice aroma of sweetness, some hops, yeast, fruits, earth. Balanced sweet taste, yeast, some wood. Alcohol hidden well. Finish of rye bread and malts.

UPDATED: APR 9, 2013 Bottle from Mane Liquor. Pours a hazy, golden amber colour with a cream head. Pretty lively head that is sustained by a big carbonation. Very caramel/biscuit malt aroma with a small touch of citrus hops. Taste is very biscuity, heavy malt flavours. A slight sour note on the after taste. Had to enjoy this beer with someone else so I could get through it. I’ll have this beer just once.
