COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Over 1000 years of brewery experience together with American innovation, two years of development and the four ingredients malt, hops, water, and yeast resulted in a new dimension of the art of brewing and in an innovative, ground-breaking beer: Infinium. The sparkling beer is complex, unique in taste and produced strictly according to the German purity law. This sparkling beer is dry and strong in taste despite the more the 10 percent by volume alcohol and unsettles preconceived opinion about the limits of the German purity law. The strong, deep golden beer will enter the market in noble, corked, 0.75 liter bottles. The joint venture of Weihenstephan and Samuel Adams unites a new way of thinking about the world of the American extreme.

Bottle, best by 2010, Best part about this beer was that it was free from LFranko, its a champagne like beer which is meant to feature the yeast and effervescent but this just feels like old school BSA, nothing standout here.

Schaum fällt schnell zusammen. Geruch nach Kanalisation. Geschmack mit Noten nach Vanille und Karamell.

"listed as a dopplebock here but does not resemble one in color, body, aroma, or flavor. BA lists it as something like biere de champagne...whatever the hell that is! anyway, this was a beer that came with hype and a hefty pricetag. the consensus was...not a $20 beer, but not many are. that being said, i really liked it. it was unique in every aspect. the aroma and flavor were like a blend of banana beer and champagne, with some buttery soft chardonnay crap going on as it warmed. i think my wine drinking wife and mominlaw will love this beer. another forte is that i didn’t know this beer was OVER 10% til after it was gone. i’ve had beers that mask the alcohol well, but never anything even approaching this. i’d have beleived it was 3-4% before 10.5 if i haddn’t seen it on the bottle."

The body has a clear orange amber body with tons of effervescent carbonation rushing up to the bright white head. The head is tall and lightly packed with tiny loosely packed bubbles that settle quickly. It looks very much like champagne but with a much deeper colored body. The first thing that hit me was a wave of heavy alcohol, which I was not expecting. I knew it was 10.3% but it just hit me with a brandy or cognac like boozy character with some fruity white grape, caramel/candy covered apple and light banana notes. I also get some spicy and dry dusty basement like yeast notes in the nose as well. It starts with a big boozy malty sweetness. There are notes of boozy grapes, caramel and sweet red apple inside the maltiness with some very mellow hops creeping in. They bring some light citrus and slight herbal, grassy, almost mint like hop notes to the party. The hops however, offer very little to balance the malt sweetness and it becomes cloying after a few sips. The mouth feel is a bit heavier than I was expecting but bubbly. The carbonation keeps the palate from getting sticky but I still fined it uneasy to drink.

Orange color with medium head. Very malty and fruity taste. Some sour taste. Good and special, but not as good as expected.

This review is a warning not to get too excited about a fancy bottle. The big seller here was "over 1000 years of brewery experience together with American innovation", not to mention "two years of development". The nose was bready, herby, lightly sweet and sour with a bit of yeasty marmite. The beer was a clear amber, well carbonated and the cork flew off. The taste of this ale was creamy, slightly metallic with a bittersweet finish, it was meant to be complex and unique but was just a bit weird. Overall, it was incredibly average for the price.

Weird beer. Sort of like a dry blond beer, with a yeasty fruitness. Not ground breaking, but strange and a bit off.

Infinium Corked and caged bottle 0.7 cl bottle shared. Appearance: Pours a orange color, with large bubbles which lead to a quickly diminishing head. (more champagne as beer appearance.) Aroma: Sweet Citrus, Aprictos, wood, some spices and some banana’s Taste:Taste is sweet and malty, with caramel malts, quite some Fruit( peaches, apricots, grapes), light tones of wood and vanilla. Alcohol shows through in the finish but a winey way. Thin body, Champaign like carbonation, which is a bit too prickly for a beer like this.(Slightly above Average) In the end overhyped, but the basics are here and clearly an above average brew, and probably the best champaign beer I had so far.

Belgos, and I have had enough of them to be understand the style, are certainly not my go-to beer, no matter how interesting the description. Not nearly the bomb it has been made out to be (partly the hype-machine’s fault), it isn’t an overly special beer either. Belgian styles are a rare treat for me and a time to reset and rejuvenate taste buds hammered with typical North American fury. It’s a light hazy, maple syrup/orange colour with a feel just softer than a sparkling white. Lots of aromas and flavours true to the style, burnt toffee, raisin, yeast, vanilla, bready rum pudding and dark fruitcake, wood, leather, bubblegum and basement. Nothing to really hate about here, just a pretty fine now-and-then-er.
