3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Great look in the glass with a deep copper hue and crisp head. When you hold it up to the light you get the pleasant burgundy glow of a good dunkel. the nose is quite nutty and sweet but not cloying. Not surprisingly the flavour is the same with a richness of body and subtleness of the hop profile. A very good beer overall and one that whould be consumed in the cool winter months we are experiencing downunder at the moment.

UPDATED: MAY 24, 2004 Very nice, dark red/amber color, small and tight, fully diminishing head. Strong, caramel-malty and very sweet, rye bread aroma. Lots of rye bread and some chocolate in the malty, bitter and smooth flavor. Rounded, roasted-malty and dry, although slightly carbonated, syrupy and bitter finish. Medium-bodied, syrupy palate. Nicely balanced, quite full-bodied, very enjoyable dunkel. Gets sweeter as it warms up.

UPDATED: JAN 24, 2007 Bottled, blind tasting session, re-rate: This beer might have changed or I was so wrong when I rated it last time. It’s a beautiful very much roasted malty Dunkel. I’d swear it’s a good German Bock during the tasting. Sweet, light bitter, toffee. Very good. Bottled, Dec ’03, 2.5: Cola and light chocolat aroma. Redish brown color, light brown head, fair lace. The start is cola and light roasted, but soon it gets more roasted and bitter. It finishes bitter roasted. Less than medium full body.
