Our reddish brown dark lager “Tradition” with its mild aroma of hops smells like roasted malt and impresses with its sweet caramel flavor which is followed by a slight bitterness. Goes well with hearty dishes, such as roasts, poultry and game. Brewed according to our centuries-old brewing tradition on the Weihenstephan hill.

Mild flavours of caramel, very smooth, not too bad a drop. Could drink a coffee on a hot day.

500ml bottle into weizen glass. Glowing copper colour beer with fulsome white head. Fine steady carbonation. Sweet grainy nose. Thin flat mouthfeel. Finish is stale bread with a little honey. Basically, a dark malty lager.

UPDATED: OCT 9, 2016 Siirappinen, vivahteikas runko, ei kuitenkaan liian makea. Rapea ja kivan hapokas.

Bottle. Clear darker copper in color with an off-white head. Dark bready and malty notes in aroma. Bready malty in taste, also not too sweet which is good. Quite bitter as well, nice. Tasty and has got a good drinkability. Excellent brew.

Bottle at home. Aroma is malt, dark bread, caramel, toffee, nuts. Flavour is moderate to medium sweet and light bitter. Body is light to medium. Rich malts but a bit thin bodied, fairly enjoyable but not a Weihenstephaner favourite.

München köpt i Friesing i Wweihenstephaners egen butik flaska. Med Radi. Stor arom. Fin lacing. Underbar mörk Bärnstensfärgad. Otroligt fint balanserad. En Dunkel för alla synd att så få får smaka den i detta skick.

50cl bottle at home. Somewhat hazy dark brown with a medium slightly off-white head. Medium body with moderate carbonation. Subtle sweet and bitter tones. Caramel, malts, brown sugar and some chocolate. Quite OK.
