Commercial Description:
A light-coloured, spicy single-bock wheat beer, for both beer lovers and the beer connoisseur. Extra long and cold storage in our monastery cellars makes this single-bock a really special beer with full body and a distinctively great mouthfeel. Prost!

Nice, hazy, banana yellow liquid. Over two fingers of loose white foamy head. Retention is okay and the lacing is alright. The look is good, but the head kind of disappoints. Floral and yeasty notes hit first. Followed by light hints of tropical fruits. Nice scent of just ripening bananas. Cloves and corriander. Smells are rich and make me salivate. Nice. Big banana taste. Almost like a good banana puding. Then the spices come into play, along with a touch of nutty flavor. Now it’s like some fresh banana bread. Notes of wheat and yeastiness. Light notes of caramel/brown sugar. Very good and creamy beer, here. The carbonation is a little bit ’sharp’, though. Nice, solid medium body. Thick enough to be enjoyable, yet not overpowering. Truly a very drinkable beer. Great flavor and easy to drink. Also, I know that it’s a 7.7% ABV, but I can’t detect any alcohol presence, at all. Very well balanced brew, overall

Bottle. Pours with huge rocky white head over a hazy yellow body. Balanced clove-banana aroma and flavours including peach, background malt sweetness and alcoholic warmth coming through. Really nice.

Pours much lighter than I expected...almost school bus colored. Certainly not as muddy as I wanted...more of an unfiltered haze. The head was marvelous though...I’ve never seen bubbles so dense. Nose was chewed wheat, yeast, and bananas with touches of tartness, and a little clove. Flavors were primarily yeasty with waves of cream of wheat, whole grains, oatmeal, cherio made of dried bananas...sprinkles of spice round things out. Body is nicely full and round, fills the mouth nice and leaves the flavors to linger. I can say I wish it was even more chewy as I love chewiness in weizenbocks...but oh well. The alcohol is warming...

Tap at Verdugo. I was very surprised by this because it was unlike any weizenbock I have experienced. Nose smells like trappist yeast and Begian wheat! Color is a paler yellow than I expected also - nothing bocky about it. Flavor also starts out a mellow, aged yeasty Belgian ale, but finishes with that Weihenstephaner twang and a distinctly German graininess. Nice.

The aroma is spicy, coriander, orange peel, banana, slight bubblegum. The appearance is light yellow, fluffy white head (more like a regular wheat than a weizen bock). The flavor is spicy, and sweet, coriander, pepper, banana, bubblegum. The finish is very low in hop bittering, and has an astringent burn from the spices. Medium mouthfeel, maybe a little thin. Definitely morre like a wheat than a weizen bock, which I expect to be darker, thicker and more boozy. Still, decent and enjoyable.

Bottle. Pours a cloudy gold with an absolutely massive head. Lots of suds clinging to the side of the glass as it slowly, slowly recedes. An interesting mix of aromas: bubble gum and cloves, bananas, a little lemon and grass and just a little bit of a funk to it. Flavor is a little washed out, but a very nice mix of the above flavors. With just a little more umph or push, this would be awesome.

Poured a hazy golden color with a big white head that left quickly. Smell and taste are huge in bubble gum with notes of wheat, banana, and lemon. Not really a huge fan of this one but it is very drinkable. Too much bubble gum flavor in my opinion.

served a mug with a small to medium head and no lace. Aroma is heavy traditional Bavarian Weizen - pungent, sweet-sour, fruity, malty, und vundrerbar! Color is a hazy light to medium-light amber. Flavor is prominently a pungent malt with lemony citrus character. Hardly any hop. Finish is like regular flav. One of the richest, most full flavored weizens. Perhaps a session.
