Flavors of cloves, bananas, lemon grass, dough. I catch hints of Belgian style triples in this beer - might be the high alcohol content? Regardless, this is a great brew and for $2.99 locally, I’m loving it. Indra (2025), Prairie Village, Kansas, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Apr 16, 2009 Updated: Apr 23, 2009500ml bottle. Doughy, spicy yeast greets the nose, with generous amounts of clove and banana, as well as floral sweetness, licorice, lemon, golden raisin, bready, honeyish malts and wheat. Hazed golden color with a lasting, uneven, off-white head. Flavor is mildly tart, sweet and spicy, with a strongly malty presence throughout, the yeast making itself known as well in large degree, and touches of peppery bitterness and banana at the end to wrap it all up. Effervescence is mild but plentiful on the smooth palate, body is medium-full. Enjoyable, nicely balanced and full of flavor. kp (8400), Woodstock, Georgia, USA

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 10, 2009 Pours dull hazy yellow / gold with a large dense snow white head. The aroma has lots of fresh esters, cream, ton of wheat, peppery kick and some vanilla. The body starts medium / full and smooth then there is a lot of semi-sharp carbonation. The flavor begins with the traits from the aroma with a touch of sweetness and more spice. The finish gets drier and peppery and is fairly crisp. Another great beer from an amazingly solid brewery. Pours a super-hazy pils yellow with a humongous whipped-cream consistency head. Aroma is of wheat, lager, malty munich, and some minor banana. Taste is pretty much in the same place - a very clean and refreshing wheat and munich taste with extremely minor banana undertones. Weihenstephan never ceases to amaze me. A very solid beer. ghawener (953), San Salvador, El Salvador

Aroma is strong of banana, clove, wheat, peach and yeast. Palate is crisp, with a medium-long finish. Flavors are a really nice blend of fruit, wheat and Belgian yeast. Great flavor characteristics washed down easily with pearly effervescence. Great beer! puboflyons (600), New Hampshire, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 15/20 | Apr 8, 2009 From a 1 pt. 0.9 fl oz. bottle no. 5198. It pours a cloudy pale yellow with foam, foam, and more foam. It overflows the glass. The aroma is clearly of yeast, wheat, and spices. The mouthfeel is pretty decent and chewy. The taste is bold , hoppy, and very true to the bock recipe of 1040 AD I suppose. I thought it was excellent for its style.
