Commercial Description:
A light-coloured, spicy single-bock wheat beer, for both beer lovers and the beer connoisseur. Extra long and cold storage in our monastery cellars makes this single-bock a really special beer with full body and a distinctively great mouthfeel. Prost!

50cl bottle. Finally, Vitus appears at the local bottle shop. Having seen this beer pimped a ridiculous amount over on BA, I was intrigued. Well, a thicker sweeter Weinstephaner Hef, thats about the extent of it. Hazy yellow-orange with a big, frothy head. Banana, lemon, and bready aroma. Sweet flavor with banana and a bit of spice. Medium-full body cut nicely by ample, effervescent carbonation. Chewy. Well made; I never doubted that, but I would take their regular weissebier any day. This tastes almost the same, but is just a bit unbalanced on the sweet, nearly cloying side.

Poured a hazy yellow with a tint of brown and a large off-white head. Cloves and yeast aroma with some sweet wheat malt for the base. The flavor has a big clove and phenol flavor that over powers the malt. Spicy finish with a light to medium body.

[Bottle] Pours hazy orange with a big white head. Banana is there in the aroma, but more subdued than expected. Some buttery notes were a little offputting when cold, but they disappeared as it warmed and were replaced by some light smokiness that was much more appealing. Taste is banana and clove (as expected, with the banana coming out more as it warmed), but something was lacking...I think that it needed more spices, and the wheat twang was not as prominent as with some weizens. Good mouthfeel with a slightly above average finish. Overall a good weizen bock, but by no means a great one, and really does nothing to set itself apart. Probably a beer that would be better very fresh--would love to try it in Deutschland.

This Weizenbock is a darker, maltier version of Weihenstephaners normal Hefeweizen complete with citrus flavors and an extra alcohol kick. The alcohol does well to balance out the general sweetness of the unfiltered beer and has become a regular purchase for me at the local supermarket. I haven’t gone back to their standard Hefeweizen ever since buying one of these.

Bottle. Cloudy yellow with a foamy white head. When I bought this for some reason I thought I was getting a dark beer... silly me. And as I’m not much into Weizen beers, I was a bit disappointed. But this is a delicious beer, with a touch of citrus but not tangy and sour, more like a smooth banana/lemon touch. Can’t taste the alcohol at all, and it has a very nice buzz to it. If this truly is the worlds oldest brewery, as it says on the label, I can see why. This rocks.
