joeyplush (328), Garnet Valley, Pennsylvania, USA May 13, 2009 Cloudy orange with a thick foamy head. Aroma has some lactic acid, bananas, and dough. Flavor is full bodied, with some citrus and a crisp finish. Not my favorite beer from this brewer, but still excellent. DiabolikDUB (143), Portland, Oregon, USA May 13, 2009 Poured from 500ml bottle into Pint glass.
Pours a hazy golden color with a slight orange glow. It poured with a huge frothy white head. It has strong aroma of banana and cloves which I expected along with some yeast. It has a spicy flavor which I very much enjoy. Some flavors I picked up on were banana, a slight mango, clove and I think I’m getting some ginger in there as well. Its a light bodied effervescent beer. Overall its extremely approachable for its higher alcohol. rajendra82 (698), Alpharetta, Georgia, USA May 10, 2009 Prototypical Weizen appearance, the pale body, the large head, and cloudy consistency were unmistakable. The aroma was also classic banana and clove, and was pretty inviting. The taste was a lot spicier than the Hefeweizen this looked like. The clove notes were much more pronounced and there was also some sourness apparent. Very light in the mouth, which is quite typical of wheat based beers, but it was quite a bit lighter than anticipated considering this is a Weizenbock. Probably the easiest to drink near 8% beer I’ve sampled. Way different than Aventinus or any other examples of this style. Hank1980 (734), Athens, Georgia, USA May 9, 2009 Bottle. Poured a lightly clouded gold with a huge white head. Aroma of banana, clove, wheat. It’s a little musty as well - not sure what that is. Taste is wheat, banana, yeast, clove - pretty sweet. Mouth is dry and carbonation is lively. Overall, a nice interesting wheat brew. noompa (130), Chicago, Illinois, USA May 2, 2009 50 cl. bottle (2009) in a weizen glass. Pours a hazy golden w/ a mighty robust meringue white head (huge head as befits the style); aroma is sweet banana, wheaty and some oily residue; flavor is more banana, strong wheat and citrus; effervescent mouthfeel, ending crisp, sweet and refreshing. Should have used darker malts. Nowhere as complex and dense as Aventinus, but quite drinkable. smith4498 (825), Miami, Florida, USA Apr 28, 2009 Pours hazy straw color with big white head. Aromas of wheat, clove and banana. Wheat, clove, banana, lemon and yeast flavors. Medium body with fizzy carbonation. Archibaldo de la Cruz (394), Finland Apr 27, 2009 Bottle. Hazy yellow with a huge white head. Aroma of banana, yeast and wheat. The flavour is banana, yeast, wheat and malt with notes of alcohol. Nice and refreshing brew, but not as good as Hefe Weissbier from the same brewery. Coltrane (108), South Carolina, USA Apr 25, 2009 Banana, cloves, wheat, sweetness, tang, yup. All of that. Great example of a weizenbock. Hefeweizen plus alcohol with a bit of a kick. A very nice beer, and quite refreshing.
