Aroma is big and warm, with banana and yeast and a nice hint of lemon. Full mouthfeel. Flavour of a really solid weiss on steroids - everything tastes great, and there’s more of it. Finish is dry and warm, with some herbal hops and a bit of alcohol. Another Weihenstephan winner. kmweaver (2503), Sebastopol, California, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 11, 2007 500mL bottle, courtesy of Stine. Thanks, Eben! Pours a cloudy, whitish-golden color; fluffy whitish head with decent lacing. Plenty of chewy bananas and light clove and spices in the aroma. Chewy Belgian sugars and caramelized banana pudding; dense, chewy hefe character amped up a bit; some cloves and spicing comes through mid-palate. Lengthy, Belgian sugar and bananas in the finish. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 4, 2008 This is pretty well carbonated as a soft pour still yields a full three-finger thick, frothy, pale tan colored head. The beer is a light gold color and shows a very lightly hazed, straw gold color when held up to the light. The aroma is distinctly full of clove phenolics, even seeming a bit fruity in its clove character. Wheat like grain notes provide a touch of bread aromatics, some light tartness and some cracker-malt notes. Banana esters mix in with the clove notes, but are definitely noticed as well. There are also some plum like notes as well as a touch of apple aromatics.
Well carbonated, yet still creamy like many a good Hefeweizen; this does have a touch more body than your standard Hefe, but so far if I was presented this blind I would be hard pressed to guess that this is something other than a normal Hefeweizen. The strength of this brew shows up in the esters that are noticeable; this is a bit more fruity than your typical strength Hefe with flavors of plum, Macintosh apples and green raisins. This fruitiness is backed by a spicy, phenolic finish reminiscent of the turpenes particular to cloves. As the beer loses some of its zippy carbonation and warms up just a touch it begins to pick up a lightly concentrated banana note in the middle. This has a light tartness to it than helps to accentuate the various fruit components a bit.
The last pour that has some yeast sediment to it, adds a bit more yeasted tartness to this brew, which is a nice added dimension. I really like this take on the Weizenbock; it really is just a slightly amped up version of a well made Hefeweizen with the increased gravity producing more interesting esters and phenolics.

Notes of clove, bubblegum, and pear are in the nose. Flavor is a sweet and floral rush of clove and banana, with a tingly trickle all the way down the tongue. VERY refreshing and light, and VERY enjoyable. GREAT weizen; definite repeat. ekstedt (2457), Göteborg, Sweden

Spicy, peppery, slightly alcoholic and sourish, and estery taste, with clear notes of bananas. Medium bodied and smooth. Well balanced with some (alcohol?) bitterness. Not even close to Aventinus. unclemattie (2447), Georgia, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | Jul 10, 2009 500ml bottle. Pours cloudy blond golden yellow. Bright white colored, foamy head and very nice legs with equally sexy lace. Aroma of freshly picked bananas. Dominate banana aroma. Some mustard seed, a nice clove and a touch of honey sweetness in the nose as well. Very grainy wheat flavor yields a nice bit of sweetness. Lots of fruity yeast esters. Finishes with a lingering spiciness of black pepper. A nice calming alcoholic presence. Creamy texture, very smooth on the palate. Full bodied. Dangerously drinkable. | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Oct 19, 2007 Bottle. Strong aroma of banana and toffee. Very strong aroma. Thin white head w/ decent lacing. Taste is similar to the aroma, though a little less fruity and with a bit of citrus far in the background. Nice beer. Boutip (2412), Gatineau, Quebec, Canada
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Mar 17, 2008 Bottle: Poured a golden color weizenbock (kinda light of the style) with a huge foamy white head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma consists of banana ester with some cloves and fresh fruits. Taste is also dominated by some nice wheat malt note with loads of fruity, banana and cloves ester. The yeast really works wonderfully in this beer. Full body with loads of lees and great carbonation. I wish I had access to quality stuff like that every day.
