4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
I don’t know if it’s the best beer in the world, but if not, it should be so near (almost, amongst the wide distributed beers). It’s very complex, rich in flavours and aromas, steady, perdurable and complete. You can find citrus, pineapple, grain, floral regards, smooth touch of pepper and spices, etc. Very refreshing, but, at the same time, serious and elegant. The kind of beer you can have in a pub, beside the fireplace or in the best restaurant. Just IN-DIS-PEN-SA-BLE!!

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
A surprisingly light yellow hazy body. The white fluffy head settles down quickly. Nose has loads of sweet bananas, hay and spices. Taste is quite sweet and the the finish has an interesting bitterness. Carbonation is quite soft and the palate feels rich. Overall very nice, rich and creamy but easy to drink. Excellent aromas!

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
(Bue sur place en fût): Des poires mûres et du blé sûr qui pataugent dans une mare épicée au cou de girofle. Le corps est juste assez aérien pour disperser les sucres et avec la touche sulfureuse en finale, la buvabilité est monstre.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
500ml bottle served in its own weizen glass. Re-reviewed at the Wiehenstephan monastery @ Freining, Munich area, 28th of September, 2012.
A: Pours a huge fluffy bubbled aired white head is formed when poured. Good retention and some lacings formed and left in the glass. Cloudy pale orange color
S: Smells pretty good. Wheat, cereals, bread and yeasts. Smells like a hefeweizen with the difference that it’s even sweeter. Banana-clove is there and also caramel and honey in the end
T: Follows the nose: wheat, bread, caramel malts, yeasts. Some banana esters. Very light bitterness
M: Medium and bit molasses body. Medium carbonation. A bit sweet with light bitterness. Very pleasant and drinkable
O: Great Weihenstephaner specimen. Refreshing and delicious

Review based on the BJCP2008 guidelines (style 15C adapted to light color bock). Bottle 50 cl - Batch unknown. AROMA: sweet wheat aromas mixed with vanilla and some faint banana. no hop aromas. some alcohol. APPEARANCE: gold color and hazy. large moussy white head with good retention. TASTE: sweet vanilla flavour, mixed with a strong wheat presence. very low bitterness with a relative dry finish. PALATE: medium body with moderate carbonation. OVERALL: a very interesting variation of the traditional weizen bock style, which uses a dunkelweizen.

4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
Maybe my favorite weizen bock. Such a wonderful beer. I had this on tap at Der Schwarzer Kolner in Brooklyn. The pout is lovely, with a big thick almost craggy head. It’s a hazy yellow honey color, with healthy co2 that bubbles up, it’s wonderful to behold. This is a beer you really should sniff for a moment, because there is so much in the aroma- strong banana, citrus notes, floral notes, bread and yeast, hay, and a hint of bubble gum too. It’s a great sniff. In the taste some of the aroma notes carry through, with bubble gum, lemony citrus, and a slightly sweet alcohol in there too. The mouthfeel is sticky, but in such a pleasant way paired with the co2, which provides a nice smooth finish. One of my all time favorites.
