Bottle MHD/Best before: 30.06.2016 The ’best before’ date indicates that it’s made durable by heating it. So it’s not a genuine Kellerbeer. The beer has a fine foam in the beginning that goes down quick. Leftovers of foam are staying till you drink it up, but you can’t reproduce more foam by swinging the glass. Aroma smells of mash (you can imagine the warm mash smell in front of the brewery) and not of hops. Appearance is nice: It’s slightly muddy. Fine for an unfiltered beer. The taste is too sweet for a Pilsener and not enough bitter. The taste of mash is a bit too insistent. It’s a full bodied beer with soft carbonation and a disappointing finish. Conclusion: Too much sweet malt and not enough hops. The awarded normal Kellerbier of the same brewery is much better!

A bit hazy, yellow/golden color with a small head. The beer has a delicate aroma of bread, honey, flowers and citrus ; typical for this style. Medium carbonation and oily mouthfeel. Moderate sweet, almost no bitterness despite all that hoppy aroma. The aftertaste is slightly sour on the tongue. Nothing fancy but perfect for a crazy hot weather.

Half litre flip top, poured into over sized Tripel Karmeliet tulip. A: Pale amber, hazy, the head didn’t hang around very long, some lacing, also a few bubbles. S: Sugar beat, farmyard and noble hops, quite possibly Saaz? T: Curious mix of sour dough, rye crisp bread and some fruits that have been kept a bit too long. Also had notes of sugar beat. Sharpness came in at the finish. M: The carbonation was non existent, medium body, smooth. O: The title suggested a mix of two styles, but it was much more Kellerbier than Pils, the early sips promised a lot but it never quite delivered.
