beerguy101 (3861), Newark, California, USA Sep 19, 2009 Sampled on 8/22/2009. This smoked beer pours a medium brown color from a 500ml bottle. Small to medium sized white foamy head. The aroma is caramel, roasty malts, slightly smoky. A medium bodied smoked beer. The malts are caramel and fruity. The hop are earthy and herbal. There is just a hint of smoke in this beer, but it pervades the whole beer start to finish. Nice balance. Good carbonation. Perhaps a touch too sweet. Some lingering smoke flavors at the finish. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet with a touch of smoke. Oakes (8057), gone rambling, Vietnam Jul 24, 2009 Golden-amber. Toasty smoke accent on the nose. Light body and a moderately smokey palate. Some caramel balance. Smoke dissipates a bit as it warms. Slight acidity in the finish. Beershine (2678), Hue, Vietnam Jul 15, 2009 Draft at brewpub, served in krug. Has a lasting white cap and beer looks amber. Aroma has a nice proportion of smoked malt. Smells sweet and hammy in a good way. Low carbonation, nice palate, quaffable and soft. Nice dry finish is woody with subtle tannins. Nice fresh grain character comes out and has a little socky-sweet-sour element. Very good woody beer with lots of character and not overly smoky but their lagerbier is a better one. strings (361), Sydney, Australia Jul 5, 2009 On tap at Zlý Časy beer festival. Where’s the smoke?
