4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Cask at CBI, London on 28th April 2013. Solid black with thin tan film and pattern lace. Coffee and cocoa aroma. Rich coffee, spice and chocolate in-mouth. Rather sweeter aftertaste with berries and tanginess yet coffee returns late. Excellent. Smooth mouthfeel and fair body.

3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
[Cask at the Reading Beer Festival] Brown-black with a moderate tan head. Coffee is evident in the aroma with obvious roasted malts, but it feels like theyíve just been added to try and cover up a rather inferior, slightly sour base beer. Donít think the hops used really work that well with the coffee, either. An unbalanced beer with a great smell.

500ml bottle [3.7% abv]. Almost black colour with average, creamy, fairly lasting, moderately lacing, beige head. Cautiously roasty dark malty aroma with a coffee/cappuccino note. Taste is minimally sweet dark malty, very good coffee/cappuccino note, hints of roast, a sourish touch.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Cask at the Cock Tavern - London. Pours dark brown with a thick, mocha cream head. Quite a bit of mocha on the nose, soft roast. Light to medium sweet flavor with char, some chalky roast, slight minerals and baking cocoa. Light bodied with smooth, silky carbonation. Fairly earthy and bitter to finish, lots of bittersweet baking cocoa, moderate toast, some burnt coffee grounds. A really nice, depthy and sessionable stout.

2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
UPDATED: APR 25, 2013 A rather chalky beer with plenty of espresso and chocolate. Mouth-feel is not very nice, with a kind of powdery, mildly astringent quality. Decent start I guess but not amazing, needs some tweaking. Sweet, not much aroma.

Bottle from Cotteridge Wines; dark brown almost black pour with thin tan head, roast coffee aroma, forward coffee taste backed with milk chocolate, not the sweetest milk stout, quite full bodied for low ABV. This is a very milk stout.

500ml bottle at 3.7%. Pours black with a large head. Aroma is smoky, oily roast, a touch of milk sweetness and varnish. Taste has a lot of bitter coffee, touch of blackberries in the finish. Good mouthfeel for the strength.

3rd April 2013
Craft Clerkenwell. Cask. Opaque dark brown beer, little pale tan head. Palate is light and airy and slightly soft. Light touch of dark malts, tangy. Little dark fruits and a whisper of dark chocolate. Super light roast malt. Pretty modest coffee. Citrus peeping through in the semi dry finish. A lot going on here for such a modest abv stout. Decent.
