Cask, 4.5%, black with a lasting coarse ivory head, aromas of roast coffee and dark chocolate, creamy mouthfeel and initial sweetness give way to toasted malt and coffee flavours, with earthy hops and faint red fruit in the background. Cocoa and soft bitterness in the finish.

500ml Bottle conditioned: poured into an Abbot Ale glass tankard @ home on 7th March 2014, well before the BBD of March 2015 (batch 0003).
Looks impressive, the tan coloured head sat on top of a proper black body.
There is a definite coffee aroma within the malty nose, this carries on into the taste, along with chocolate notes. Labelled as ’A coffee milk stout’, it doesn’t lie.
You’d never guess the ABV was so low, this packs a powerful punch of flavours and it’s body is both rich and deep in texture with a smooth feel throughout.
A very nice beer in deed.

Cask (Gallows Bird, Espoo, Real Ale Festival 2014)
Enormous morning coffee aroma. Smooth palate, carbonation low. Very drinkable. Great balance, not too sweet, and not saying "milk" - and as I’m not a huge fan of sweet lactosey milk stouts, that’s a good thing. The coffee likewise is everywhere, but it’s not in-your-face, nicely balanced. Lovely mild coffee ale.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle. Black with a lovely half inch of tan head. Coffee is definitely the main attraction, but it’s soft and the sweetness from the lactose makes this easy drinking. Nice roast malts, good chocolate, and a bitter finish. Slightly thinner, but bulked up with an oily mouthfeel and a vigorous but soft carbonation.
