When you get to that time of day when that cup of hot coffee is no longer the answer, and you need something with a little extra kick, plait your bear, stick on your eye patch and grab a Black Perle. This milk stout is chock full of roasty malts, milk sugar, hopped with hand full’s of perle plundered from the unsuspecting and aged on a chest full of Zamorana coffee beans.

Bottle from the Hop Hideout, Sheffield. Pours black with a tan head. There’s some really good chocolate flavour to this along with the dry coffee finish. The moughtfeel is inevitably pretty thin, but this is a great beer for the strength.

Cask (Bodega, Newcastle) - Very dark brown, almost black, with red tinges. Coffee, roasted malt and plain chocolate in the aroma. Coffee, burnt toast and cocoa all feature in the smooth taste.

500ml bottle from Good Spirits Co. Almost black, reasonable head. Coffee malt aroma. Spwwet spicy coffee flavour. Coffee aftertaste. Not sure why this is a sweet stout but it is certainly a good coffee stout.

Barwa: czarna, nieprzejrzysta nawet pod światło. Piana jasno brązowa, drobno pęcherzykowa, średniej wielkości i ładnie oblepiająca szkło. Aromat: na pierwszym miejscu zdecydowanie kawa, następnie płatki owsiane i ciemne, palone słody. Konkretny i przyjemny.

I can’t remember for sure where I tried this but I think it was on tap at O’Connors in Uppsala. Smell of coffee, chocolate, dark bread and some roasted notes. Similar taste. Roasted bitter taste but also creamy.

Thanks to my buddy Rainer for the bottle! Pours a super dark black/ brown with a loose tan head. The noise is immediate big coffee, roasted malt. The taste is black coffee, roasted malt, licorice, mild fruit background ending bitter. The body is light with pretty carbonation being fine and gentle. A ton of flavor especially when considering the ABV!
