When you get to that time of day when that cup of hot coffee is no longer the answer, and you need something with a little extra kick, plait your bear, stick on your eye patch and grab a Black Perle. This milk stout is chock full of roasty malts, milk sugar, hopped with hand fullís of perle plundered from the unsuspecting and aged on a chest full of Zamorana coffee beans.

Bottle from Coppers, Newcastle. A dark brown-black beer with a powerful floral, fruity coffee flavour, milk chocolate notes and a bitter roasted finish. A superb beer, even better considering its below 4% ABV.

Pretty good. Loads of coffee, quite impressed. Shared with Missus, she liked it too. Does well for abv low. I know youíre bored now.

50cl bottle, batch no:0003, BB Mar-15. Poured black with a brown head. Very ashy aroma with sweet coffee and roasted malt. Flavor has milk chocolate, sweetness, roasted malt and ash. Finish has more coffee and is dry. Well made sweet stout, and only 3,7abv!

50 cl bottle (3,7%). Batch #0003. Bottled on 03/2013. BBE 03/2015.
Pours black color with a small beige head. Very nice coffee aroma is the first thing on the nose, maybe on the verge of turning into vegetables, some milky chocolate, faint hops and roasted malts also. Flavor is also quite coffee-infused, mild roasted malts, some dark fruits and caramel follow. Mild bitter palate with a dry coffee finish. A bit watery but surprisingly tasty for such a low ABV, definitely like the coffee here though.

Bottle from Cotteridge Wines, Birmingham. Poured a deep mahogany with a glass hugging tan head. The aroma is roasted malt and coffee. The flavour is strong bitter, with bags of coffee, dark chocolate and plenty of malt on the palate. For a coffee milk stout there was a little too much coffee and not enough milk for me, but still a very good beer.

500ml bottle from Ales by Mail

Batch 0003, Bottled MAR 2013 - Pours pitch black with a tiny white head. Aroma of roasted malts, coffee beans, sweet milk chocolate and hints of vanilla. Taste is smooth, milky and watery with hints of bitterness and roastiness. Finish is light bodied and has hints of coffee and milk chocolate with some roastiness. Quite complex considering the low abv, but feels quite watery and light.
