I had this at The Dean Swift, Tower Bridge, London, Saturday 17th August 2013 Hazy dark gold/orange colour the head is off-white. It is interesting drinking this alongside the Signature Brew, Dry the River Mammoth as this tastes a little sweet and less hoppy than that beer. However once the mouth has recovered from the furiously hoppy onslaught delivered by the Mammoth the Weird Beard is a truly lovely juicy wonderfully fruity, hoppy beer in its own right. The fruitiness is tropical with waves of juiciness coming at you, it is a really nice beer but just finds itself up against a big hoppy, dry and very bitter beer, I will drink this again on its own at some point to get a more rounded opinion of it. Bottle from The Beerhive. Muddy amber body with a huge off-white head that holds well and leaves excellent lacing. Aroma of sweet toffee, lychee and pine. It tastes quite rich and malty but there’s enough hop bitterness to balance things out. Flavours of caramel, orange, grapefruit and lime. The alcohol is well hidden. Medium body with an oily mouthfeel. Almost no carbonation. An good, malty IPA that could do with a bit more carbonation fizz.

Tap @ Cask Pub & Kitchen, London, 25/08/13. Pours a dark orange with a decent, white head. Aroma is hoppy with exotic fruits. Taste is fresh and clean. A lot of grapefruit and pine. A bit too light perhaps. Palate is light, refreshing with quite a bit of carbonation. Not too much though. Enjoyable.

Bottle at Powder Keg Diplomacy in Battersea, London on 20 July 2013. Poured a hazy orange with a dense white head. Strong aroma of citrus and hop resin with sweeter tropical fruit and some toasted malt. Initial sweet flavours of of biscuity malt, juicy satsuma and caramel are quickly balanced by big bitter grassy and grapefruit hops.

Keg at Hanging Bat. Pours a hazy amber with a thin white head. Low carbonation, could do with a bit more zing. Lots of good hop aromas though, pine, resin, dried orange peel. Very rich, but strikes a good balance with the hop bitterness. Good beer.

Bottle from Sourced Market St Pancras. Hazy dark amber colour lasting off white head. Lovely hop aroma. It’s a good even excellent American pale ale. Good solid malt underpins the good Pacific northwest hops. Fresh and hell really good. Surprise of the day.
