French/Belgian Farmhouse Beer
Brewed to pair yeast notes with hoppy ones. Sorachi Ace, used in dry hopping this beer, gives herbal and sherbet-y aromas to brighten the subtle bready malt qualities. Saison yeast gives orange peel and dried fruit aroma, with dry lingering finish.
Saison is a French/Belgian farmhouse style of beer where the yeast is the star. True to Weird Beard traditions we like to pair the yeast notes with some hoppy ones to create this summer’s day in a glass. It is a dry beer but has enough fruity sweetness to make it very moreish. Should be served cold and well carbonated, you will never see this beer in cask.

A golden beer, a head is big and blond. Aromatic nose, fruitness with tropical notes, candies and flowers. Taste has fruitness, spicyness, some flowers. Medium bodied, quite dry, strong carbonation. The great saison where also the hoppyness is clearly noticable.

Taste of soil, coriander seeds, light herbs and hints of lemon with a nice yeasty character. Medium body, low carbonation, fairly tarte.

Aroma: grain and cereal malts, barnyard, saison yeast, light citrus fruits, grapefruit. Appearance: hazy gold, massive, frothy, white head. Taste: light bitter. Palate: initial bitters subside, malty sweets coming up, bread, grains, light caramel, yeast again, some citrus fruits, barnyard, dry and lightly bitter finish. Overall: nice Saison, good palate. I have to say I’m not generally a huge fan of saison. The yeast sourness can sometimes be overpowering. But not so here. It fits in well with grassy hops very raw and unstructured with some citrus sharpness. Probably my favourite saison.

Hazy yellow, thick foamy white head. Smells yeasty and bready with a bit of grassy hop. Flavour follows that like-for-like, but with a bit of sharp, zingy citrus in there too, though the core taste and aftertaste have the typical spicy, almost earthy quality. It is "just" a saison and not deviating from the formula, but it’s a REALLY good saison.
