COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Single Hop Series allows us to showcase our creative side within the constraint of using a single hop.

So Pale and one "crystal" malt, a single hop and English Ale yeast. THis is our homage to the great British pint, or Boring Brown Beer as we like to put it. I mean to say, how plain is Belgian Special B crystal malt, or the American C-hop Chinook? How boring can a 7%+ beer with 100+ IBU really be? Interested? Grab one to find out. Batch 0001

Firmly dark brown, decent and lasting sandy head. Dunderring coppery bitter with an odd estery sweetness on the nose. Neatly bitter, lightly oily and crisp realistic malt. Sweeping sweet dark fruit yeastiness. Creamy toward finish but overly rich, spittle of hop and unreasonably sweet finish.

Bright reddish colour. Aroma is alcohol and some spice. Taste is harsh and thinnish alcohol, no aroma, no grapefruit no pine. Just alcohol and harshness. Huge disappointment, huge carbonation. Wondering what is the point of this beer.

Bottle from Cotteridge Wines, Birmingham. Poured a deep brown treacle colour with a huge frothy tan head and lots of carbonation. This was a lively beer! The aroma is surprisingly very yeasty with lots of that Belgian malt which really shines through. The hops are not so evident. The flavour is super strong bitter with a rich malty, liqourice palate and a nice lingering bitter finish. Well worth tracking down. I think the Belgians could learn a thing or two about flavour from this too.

DruncanVeasey (7191) - NUNEATON, Top 18, Warwickshire, ENGLAND - SEP 3, 2013
From Beer Gonzo, Coventry. 330ml. Mahogany with a good drape of yellow-tan foam. Aroma of red apple, yeast, liquorice Allsorts and milk chocolate. Soft and black cherry-hinting without hop flavour. Dank yeast, hazelnut, black cherry and thinly spread Marmite. Chinook? Not getting it. Westmalle Dubbel maybe. Perilously close to boring brown beer. Albeit from Belgium.
