Originally home-brewed by Andy Parker.
The second in this series showcases the Nelson Sauvin hop so expect elderflower and gooseberries blended with Saison yeast character. This beer uses a very traditional Saison grain bill of Pilsner, Vienna and Munich malts but a judicious application of this wonderful hop adds a new world twist, resulting in a beer that’s full of hop flavour without losing its Saison roots. 50cl bottle from the Beer Boutique, Putney.Batch: 12 A hazy amber pour with a billowing white head; aroma of yeast and orange peel; packed with tart, zingy citrus fruit that explodes in the mouth at first, then a sour caramel body develops; the finish has lots of warmth from the alcohol and some farmyard highlights. Certainly a beer to make you sit up and take notice, but I can’t say that the Nelson Sauvin comes through.

Tap at the Cask, Pimlico, thanks to Paul for the pour 05/08/13. Lightly hazed golden amber with a thin off white head. Nose is herbal, bitter orange, lemon rind, grass. Taste comprises tarte fruits, lemon, orange pith, light funk, earthy, herbs, light spice, pepper. Medium bodied with fine carbonation, crisp and refreshing in the finish, Solid enough saison.

Keg at Cask, Pimlico. It pours lightly hazy golden amber with a small white head. The taste is earthy, herbal, spice, dough, pine and some orangey citrus. The taste is earth, dough, spice, herbal, apricot, wood, citrus and a touch of sweetness with a dry, lightly bitter finish. Medium body and fine, prickly carbonation. Not that keen on the herbal notes.

50 cl bottle.
Pours hazy orange color with a huge frothy head, the first pour was nothing but foam. Aroma is very saisony, mild spices, lemony fruits and yeast, some hop and grass notes also. Flavor on the other hand is a bit off, some maltyness, nutty notes and even metal, some yeast and citric fruits can be found though. Strong carbonation, grassy sourish palate. Not as refreshing as I hoped it to be.

Tap at Craft Clerkenwell. Pale amber colour, small white head. Aroma is tropical fruits unsurprisingly, mango, apricot, quite full on. Some saison like herbal elements too, and a bit belgian. Taste is good, initial fruitiness, then finish is more grainy and herbal. Pretty good. Bit of bubblegum there too maybe. Fruit tastes like that peach nectar stuff. My first beer by them and will be looking for more.

Bottle from Cotteridge Wines, Birmingham. Looks beautiful - amberish, with a massive frothed globe. Smells like a murky orange and a yeasty one at that. Tartness from the yeast. Lovely smooth, thick, lustrous mouthfeel. A small bit like a beautiful horse.

Consumed at home in the company of Loz, Craig, Stella & Kids plus Jackie & Simon 02.08.13 Big thanks to Simon. Fresh nose but there is a little sherbert. Full flavour, little lemony, clingy flavour that really goes on. Touch dry at end, like it. A7 A4 T7 P4 Ov15 3.7
