Bottle. Bronze body, nice head. Earthy autumn aroma with a hint of smoke. Well balanced - taste is malty and sweet. The sweetness is balanced with woodiness in aftertaste. Very good, seems to be underrated here.

Bottle by 21.09.12. Nose rich with toffee, earth, caramel, malt and light hops. Transparent caramel color with a rocky tan head. Lovely lighter roast and caramel in the mouth, toffee, chocolate, earth, sweet and sticky, touch of tang and some sharp crispness. Light citrus, hops, faint berries, good malt depth. Medium body, very flavorful. Surprised!

UPDATED: AUG 18, 2011 Bottle. Light grassy hop nose, earthy yeast. Hazy amber, low head. Full on fruity malt body, nuts, bread, light clay, quite a good portion of grassy hops, aromatic honey retronasal l. chewy mouthfeel. I just love fat fruity Marzen.

On draft. Very slightly unfiltered beer. Fresh brown sugar and woody accents, with some pepper and herbs (parsley, fresh stuff, flowers). Flavor is surprisingly bitter at the warm end of the beer; this is so great, as even a low alch. beer like this can get sticky and too sweet. Even a slightly drying finish. Light-to-moderate sweetness and moderate bitterness. Light-bodied and easy to drink.

Bottled 50cl. 5.1 ABV. It pours a beautiful clear amber beer with a nicely lasting head. Very impressive frutiy aroma of papaya, crackers, cinnamon, faint smoke, leather, apricot and strawberry. Smooth and delicious taste. The lovely edlerberry and papaya notes are really well integrated in the biscuity malt profile. Very faintly smoky. Low bitterness. Subtle carbonation. Light to medium bodied, not really "vollmundig" as indicated but surely respecting the "Stammwürze-Garantie" as shown on the label. Good lacework. Smoky malty finish. Underrated in my opinion. A great buy.

500 ml bottle picked up at Maruhn in Darmstadt, Germany. Pours a fine dark amber color with a long lasting beige head. Aroma is caramel, oak wood, and sweetness. Taste is more wood, caramel and burnt malt. Palate is slightly rough, A good and different beer.

In bottle at Ventoux. Pours a dark golden colour with a decent white head. Aroma of grassy hops, caramel and biscuity malt. Similar flavours with moderate carbonation and a foamy mouth-feel. Nicely bitter and very drinkable.
