COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

Liquid does not break fasting - fasting was the rule at the times of the Benedictine monks in Weissenohe. This we now owe the mirror carp than fast food and the strong Doppelbock as liquid food in this barren time. We have for you, in this tradition, our strong brewed Bonator as dark Doppelbock, physical and spiritual strengthening in the "Staaden" time. Double Bock, a dark, spicy and strong as is the tradition requires. Suitable for: goulash, Schäuferle, Krustenbraten, hearty snacks and powerful game dishes

Lederhosen, side one of Kraftwerk’s Autobahn and subtle attempts at humour. Respect for the brewers.

Bottle. Pours a deep copper with smallish light tan coloured head. Aromas of bready malt and rich caramel. Flavours show lots of malt and are certainly quite sweet. Some alcohol and bitterness to balance on the finish. Medium mouthfeel. Nice beer

5000 (6300) - Hardened Liver, Washington, USA - NOV 25, 2011
Bottle:   Deep caramel, reddish hued, thin foamy light beige head, sparce lacing.   Huge semi-sweet bready aroma, with dark pitted fruit and nuts.   Very bready on the tongue, malty, semi-sweet, some molasses and even a bit of dull sweetened toffee.   This one is very meaty.   Full bodied, fairly thick mouthfeel.   This is a fairly big Doppel Bock from start to finish.   Bready, fruity, moderate sweetness, and certainly big.   Good heavy example.

500ml flip top bottle, sampled in a Gulden Draak tulip, this Doppelbock had a clear ruby-red pour with dark bronze color at the sides of the glass and made a one to two finger off-white head, the glass was full of streaming bubbles, and left small spots and rings of lacing on the glass, I found no sediment in the bottle, the aromas were a mixture of some dark fruit – fig and date with a little dried cherry here and there, toasted malt, chocolate and dark sweet bread with faint caramel, flavors were dried fruit (same as the aroma), dark bread, some caramel, toasted malt and a little chocolate, it was drying after the finish with just a touch of bitterness, the drink starts with a little bread and fruit sweetness but ends dry after the finish, the mouth feel was more than medium and presented a nice creamy feel on the palate, a very nice drink, I would recommend.
