Dieser verdanken wir heutzutage den Spiegelkarpfen als Fastenspeise und den kräftigen Doppelbock als flüssige Nahrung in dieser kargen Zeit. Wir haben für Sie, in dieser Tradition, unseren kräftigen Bonator als dunklen Doppelbock eingebraut, zur körperlichen und geistigen Stärkung in der „staaden“ Zeit. Ein dunkler Doppelbock, würzig und kräftig wie es die Tradition verlangt. Passend zu : Gulasch, Schäuferle, Krustenbraten, deftigen Brotzeiten und kräftigen Wildgerichten

Liquid does not break fasting - fasting was the rule at the times of the Benedictine monks in Weissenohe. This we now owe the mirror carp than fast food and the strong Doppelbock as liquid food in this barren time. We have for you, in this tradition, our strong brewed Bonator as dark Doppelbock, physical and spiritual strengthening in the "Staaden" time. Double Bock, a dark, spicy and strong as is the tradition requires. Suitable for: goulash, Schäuferle, Krustenbraten, hearty snacks and powerful game dishes

@ Sergio’s / Louisville KY --- Hazy ruby mahogany with a 2" head that lasts until midway through the glass, thin streaks of lace. Taste is dark roasted malt with light spices in the palate, moving on to very light bittering in the finish. A fairly straightforward brew, but pleasant to drink.

Pours a clear mahogany color with a thick tan head. The smell is caramel malt, rich fruit, bready. The taste is bready, fruity, caramel, grass enfin with a bit off dryness. The body is light/medium with fine carbonation structure....quite silky.

Mostly clear reddish brown with lingering cushion of white foam. Aroma is malt, malt, malt. Toffee, chicory, plus just plain barley. Taste is unrestrained sweet malt juice, start to finish. Alcohol not obvious. Chewy. A meal and a half.

The orange stripe across the label, not present on the label of the other beers of this brewery, shows it’s something special. Dark brown and clear, smallish head, some of it is durable. Deep malty smell but also hinting at the higher alcohol percentage. Starts out rather sweet, heavily malty, coffee, chocolate, slightly roasty. Very deep and complex malt aroma, nice. Only soft carbonation but not as flat as I’m used to from other Doppelbocks. Still malty in the finish. Alcohol is not very present. Very enjoyable Doppelbock.

500ml Flasche. Ins Glas ergießt sich ein dunkel rötlichbraunes Bier mit geringer Schaumkrone. Geruch sehr röstmmalzig, schokoladig, fruchtig. Geschmack röstmalzig süß mit leichter Fruchtigkeit, leicht schokoladig.

Bottle, Dark copper colour, clear, small white head, rather quickly vanishing. In aroma caramel, alcohol and some canned corn. In taste alcool, medium sweetness, rather flat.

Hazy copper brown pour with a 1 finger, creamy beige head. Aroma is caramel, toffee, yeasty, crusty bread, brown sugar, and some planty, herbal hops. Flavor is caramel, toffee, butterscotch, light sweet corn, toast, doughy yeast, autolyzed yeast, bread crust, caramelized brown sugar, light earthy, planty hops and dull, spicy hops to the finish. Medium body, slightly chalky, creamy and chewy feel and moderate carbonation. Its a strange Doppelbock with tons of yeast character, but I liked it.

16.9 oz bottle pours hazy brown with a off white head. Aroma of malts, bread, caramel and some fruit. Taste is malty, dried fruit and a little roast.

Pours cola brown with a 1 finger head into a Weihenstephan glass. Nose is heavy caramel & malt, some overripe banana, Vegemite. As others have said, the taste is very sweet - strong toffee, toasted malts, with some hints of Vegemite, light hops and peppery notes in the finish toning down the sweetness a little. Medium bodied. Possibly a little sweet overall but still very enjoyable. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
