Liquid does not break the Fast - was a rule of fasting at the times of the Benedictine monks in Weissenohe. For this, now we owe the Mirror Carp as Fasting food and the strong Doppelbock for liquid intake during this barren time. In this tradition, we have brewed for you our strong Bonator the dark Doppelbock, physically and spiritually strengthening during the "staaden" time. A dark Doppelbock, spicy and strong as the tradition requires. Suitable for: goulash, pork shoulder, roasted meat, hearty snacks and strong game dishes

500 ml bottle. Brown/amber pour with tan creamy head. The aroma is clove and bread. The taste is rich caramel up front , a hint of butter scotch with nice malty/sweet finish. Yum.

500ml bottle pours a deep amber color with a finger and a half of off-white head that leaves some nice lacing on the glass. Aroma is caramel and grass with some dark fruits. Taste is a caramel malty and raisin sweetness with a grassy hop bitterness. Body is medium with light carbonation. A decent doppelbock, but lacking in complexity with other doppelbocks.

A - Pours a clear garnet with tan head. S - Toasted brown bread, toasted brown sugar, vanilla. T - Follows the nose - Brown bread crust, woody grain, caramel, light but earthy bitterness, some berry fruit underneath. Bready and nutty on the finish. M - Low carbonation, thin medium body. All good except for the mouthfeel was a little off. I would drink this again but wouldn’t go out of my way to find it. Serving type: bottle 12-18-2011

Bottle. Pours clear, dark Amber with a lasting White head. Sweet toffee aroma. Flavour has lots of toffee/caramel and some dark pruney sweetness. Full bodied with the ABV just knocking at the door on the finish. Very good.

Cask. Pours deep amber with a beige head. Sweet toffee malts, hints of diacetyl, lightly toasted malts, and herbal hops. Blech. I mean, still drinkable, but really not that good.

Gravity Keg at Churchkey event. Poured a dark amber color. Aroma was sweet malts, with some lightly roasted qualities. Flavor had a touch of fruits, plenty of malty sweet character. Alcohol is pretty well masked for 8.2%.
