Liquid does not break fasting - fasting was the rule at the times of the Benedictine monks in Weissenohe. This we now owe the mirror carp than fast food and the strong Doppelbock as liquid food in this barren time. We have for you, in this tradition, our strong brewed Bonator as dark Doppelbock, physical and spiritual strengthening in the "Staaden" time. Double Bock, a dark, spicy and strong as is the tradition requires. Suitable for: goulash, Schäuferle, Krustenbraten, hearty snacks and powerful game dishes

UPDATED: JUN 26, 2011 2011-01-10, bottle from Maruhn, Darmstadt, 6-5-7-3-13=34
Red-amber color, bright, with a generous creamy head. Mild aroma of cereals, and alcohol. Caramel flavor, correct mouthfeel, without much sugars, with some roasted malt and roasted nuts, a light vegetables vein, and a correct bitterness. In the final as well some alcohol can be perceived. Not bad, but also not elegant.

2010-01-11, tasting at Papsø’s, 6-4-7-3-13=33
Amber color. It’s a sweet caramel accented Doppelbock, with correct bitterness, correct body, light nutty touch and late alcohol warmth. Simple but not bad.

Bottle, 8.2%. The aroma is slightly fruity with a touch of brown sugar. Clear dark brown colour. Small tan head. The flavour is sweet and peppery in OK balance. A little fruity in the finish, which I do not think suits it. Not as flavourful as I expected from a Doppelbock.

Bottled 500ml (BZ, BB 08/2012)
Deep ruby color, good creamy beige head. Wort, caramel and dark bread in the aroma. Medium to full-bodied. Chocolaty, bready and caramelly flavor with grassy hoppyness. Finish has some bitterness and/or alcohol and then lingering hoppyness in the aftertaste. Oily palate. Interesting robust doppelbock.
