3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Hazy copper brown pour with a 1 finger, creamy beige head. Aroma is caramel, toffee, yeasty, crusty bread, brown sugar, and some planty, herbal hops. Flavor is caramel, toffee, butterscotch, light sweet corn, toast, doughy yeast, autolyzed yeast, bread crust, caramelized brown sugar, light earthy, planty hops and dull, spicy hops to the finish. Medium body, slightly chalky, creamy and chewy feel and moderate carbonation. Its a strange Doppelbock with tons of yeast character, but I liked it.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Clear copper with medium beige head. Aroma is clove, dried figs, phenols, not alcoholic, caramel. Taste is caramel sweetness, some carbonation induced sourness. Finish contains alcohol, full body. Rather too much fine bubbles but still not aggressively carbonated. Good one.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Clear amber color with off-white head. Aroma has some sweet, toasted malt and a hint of alcohol. Taste starts with toasted malt, slightly spicy and boozy. Body is on the lighter side and has medium carbonation. I don’t really like this one. It’s quite boozy and also has a stale grain / rotten fruit flavor.

Flip-top bottle into a pint glass. Pours a clear mahogany, with a large beige head that persists. Nose is typical doppelbock-malt and caramel. taste follows. Classic doppelbock, and a very good one.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle. Tawny and clear with a small head. Lovely slightly sweet flavour. So easy to drink considering its strength. An excellent example of this style that shows that in this age of wonderful craft beers Germany can still produce a good one like this. Highly recommended.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
From a 500ml bottle on 18/4/2016. Pours a dark amber with a small to medium head. The nose is rye bread, dark fruit and brown sugar. Take a sip and it’s super sweet - caramel, dates, raisins, plums, brown sugar and treacle, along with more rye bread and some light spice. There’s bugger all bitterness to be found - it could almost pass as sauce for fruit cake. The texture is thick and surupy, the carbonation quite soft. A very nice, very malty dessert like brew.

Bottle, The Offie, Leicester. Brown with a thin head. Toffee with brown sugar and oily butter. Raisins with plummy notes. Peppery alcohol with hints of vegetable. Bready yeast with leafy, papery notes. Some Euro lager notes but decent nonetheless.
