500 ml bottle from BevMo in Mira Mesa, CA. This rating is for the "Monk’s Christkindl Special Winter Brew" beer which I’m not sure is the same as this listing, but that’s what it’s tagged to. Sweet caramel and candied fruit aromas from a crystal clear copper/amber body with a medium light tan head. The sweet aromas carry straight through to the taste where that delicious German lager taste is waiting. There’s a rich nutty flavor that dries out the sweetness and balances it very well. A bit of woody bitterness and what seems like a bit of a bite from alcohol, but it’s only 5.1% ABV, so I’m not sure where that’s coming from. Ends with a dry but still sweet finish. Deliciously rich and tasty German dark lager.

Pine bottle from Hayduke. We had it together via facebook chat. The beer poured mid brown and clear. Kind of tea colored but darker. A nice beige fluffy head was big and finally completely disappeared. An aroma that had some roasted notes with hops. The flavor surprised me a bit and I didn’t quite know how to categorize it. I tasted plenty of sweet malts. Grass and spices, too. Hops were interesting as was the yeast. There was some fruit in there and some nuts that grew with warmer temps. The aftertaste was spice and several minutes after the last sip is gone I still taste it.
