COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

Bottle. Pours an amber body with an off white head. Malty chocolate notes, some light lactose notes, caramel and toffee. Some thin butter scotch tones, light wood and a hint of smoke. A nice ale.

I almost didn’t buy this because I thought it was just old bottles of Monks Fest. I’m glad I recognized the subtle differences in the label (i.e. the name of the beer) The beer pours with a medium fluffy head that leaves a good lace, the color is a brilliant orange-ish red. The aroma has some hay and some mild chocolate with some graininess and light whiffs of noble hops. The flavor is husky and has plenty of herbal hops and some good chocolate notes. There is also a spicy & sweet candy thing going on in the background that is pretty good as well. The palate is rich but very smooth (real smooth?) This is another very nice beer from this brewery, I hope these seasonals from weissenoher keep popping up around Des Moines.

Bottle picked up at SL, thanks matt for the recommendation... Swing top bottle, nice pop off the top. Poured into a snifter, nice red color good head. Aroma of some light smoke and malt. Taste is nice... light roasted malts, light smoke, light spice. Texture is a little thin but not watery. Overall a good beer

50cl bottle, labeled as Monk’s Christmas - lightly hazy dark copper - large, fizzy head - fairly sweet aroma, with strong caramel, some wildflower honey character, llightly spicy hops - fairly creamy body - semi-dry, toasted bread flavor, with light hints of roasted nuts, caramel, moderate hop bitterness - a touch of warming spiciness at the end - dry-ish finish - another solid lager from this brewery.

The color is beautiful, red-brown and the head is creamy. The aroma has notes of roasted malt, nuts and caramel. The flavor has a light sweetness and notes of roasted malt, nuts, caramel, and the finish has a slightly dry touch of citrus. A quite nice one!

500ml bottle (Stockman, Tallinn)
Rich red, small tight head. Rich grainy aroma, quite bready, Anna detects some cocoa. Soft carbonation, smooth palate. Really rich malty grainy taste, a touch nutty, some smokiness too. Bitterness stays for a gentle nutty finish. Goes down very easily, but packed full of flavour. Great dunkles.

Bottle. The aroma is malty, some chocolate. The head is small, white and creamy with a normal duration. The body is dark red. The taste goes a little bit in the direction of a milk chocolate, quite malty. The body is light o medium, creamy and with a soft carbonation. A good Dunkel.

Bottle@Home, thanks DerDoppelbock. Malty aroma with toffee notes and a hint of smoke. Brown colour, beige head, good lace. Light sweet, quite malty, subtle smoke, toffee, butterscotch, light bitterness. Medium to full body for a Dunkel. Very good example of the style.
