Nice is traditional Marzen with sweet bready malts and a sessionable profile.

Aroma: Bready, but old and somewhat stale. A little caramel, too, and a little metal. Lightly fruity, with an apple tinge. Appearance: Bubbly copper pour with an off-white head that dissipates completely. Flavor: Bread becomes more toasty; there is an underlying herbal presence not immediately detected in the nose. Caramel-glazed all around. Lingers with some bitterness toward the finish. Palate: Medium body, oily texture, average carbonation, slightly bitter finish. Overall: Not a particularly pleasing example of the style for me. Just aiight.

Blah. Avg pour & ok aroma. The taste is dominated by malt but not really flavorful. I’m not really a fan. Ok at best.

Draft at the Syb Pig in Boca Raton, FL. Pours an amber-orange into my snifter. Medium orange-hued head. Aroma of caramel, sweet breads, toffee and ripened fruits. Taste is similar with sweet fruits, caramel and a bread presence. medium body, but light to drink. Full of flavor. Smooth finish.

(bottle) pours a clear amber-ruby colour with a frothy off-white head. aroma of roasted grain, freshly baked bread and grass, with a light hint of honey and banana skins. flavour is mostly roasted malts and milk chocolate, quite grainy, with notes of yeast and bread crusts. medium-bodied with average carbonation.

Bottle, pours deep amber with a big pale brown head. Toast & marmalade and a touch of demerara on the nose. A bitter edge heralds toffee and more marmalade, and an almost syrupy texture turns out dry and peppery, with caramel and spice notes. Excellent stuff!

Dunkles Bernstein, leicht trüb mit üppigem beigen Schaum. Würzmalziges Aroma mit Karamell und leicht röstig. Vollmundiger, malzdominanter Antrunk. Karamell, Brot, Nüsse, Butterstreusel, dazu aber auch angenehm zartbitter mit feiner Holznote. Spitzen-Märzen!

Draft at Monks Cafe in Philly. Billed as Weissenohe Monk’s Fest. Deep clear amber with a nice fizzy/foamy head. Classic Marzen flavors. Fuller body than most. Not overly sweet. Good stuff.
