I think it’s not a Dunkel. It’s an amber. This was my first great bier I drunk when I startet with biertasting. The color is amber. It smells of sweet tartish malts and has a soft carbonation. There is nearly no bitterness. completed bier.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20

3.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Brown amber body. Great and lasting head. Earthy aroma. Malt-driven taste. Good thick mouthfeel but the alcohol on the palate is a bit too evident. Would be tastier if it was around 5,0 instead of 5,4%. Beautiful old style label.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
(Bottle at Quinn’s, London) Rarely have I had as malty beer as this one. The malts were almost overwhelming both in aroma and the taste. So, this one lacked balance quite a bit. I wouldn’t say this was a bad beer. It tasted good and other flavours were able to emerge below the maltiness. I would categorise this one as a märzen instead of dunkel.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: OCT 26, 2010 Best before 4/29/2011. This is a fine dunkel; the hallmark characteristic is a breadiness that never gets too sweet, even upon warming. Lovely hop character, flowery in the aroma. "Dusty" aroma. Easy to drink, lovely light color bordering on reddish, slight and perfect sweetness level. Natural and fresh, long finish.

3.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
A Mes rate. Bottle from Quinns.
Clean full on Amber colour with a well behaved off white head. Massively malty aroma with an almost sickly sweetness. Some rich farmyardy type thing going on too. Nothing like as sweet or sickly in the mouth and much better for it. Balanced and middle of the road. Still fairly sweet but certainly at a tolerable level. Clean mouthfeel. Well brewed and enjoyable.
