Bottled. Almost clear amber, rich head. Bready nose with some grass. Mid sweet with medium body and well rounded mouthfeel. Bread and grass, some caramel. Low-medium bitterness.

Maker: Klosterbrauerei Weißenohe, Weißenohe, Germany *** Beer: Spezial/Klostersud *** Style: Dunkles *** ALC.VOL.: 5.4% *** "A delicately spicy, malt-dominanted masterpiece of Frankonian brewery art." [brewery note, my translation] *** Colour: Deep copper, clear, with big, fluffy off-white head. *** Nose: Grain, brown bread. Caramel. *** Texture: Medium body, still pretty watery Moderate to active carbonation. *** Taste: Brown bread, biscuity malts at first. Barley. Not really sweet though. Some floral hops towards the middle, but malts are still dominating. Chocolate and roasted malts in the finish and moderately bitter aftertaste. *** Impressions: Straightfoward "Dunkles", nothing of great complexity here. That said, it’s rather quaffable and not without character. Pretty much typical of the style.

Farbe rötlich, klar. Geruch röstig, Melanoidin. Im Geschmack dann sehr brenzlig, mehr als nur das Melanoidinmalz. Da ist vielleicht wirklich etwas angebrannt....

Sehr muffiger, sumpfiger Geruch. Geschmack wässrig und etwas muffig und abgebrannt. Wie altes Malz.

0.5 bottle. Clear, copper color and a small, off-white head. Aroma of malts, caramel, some grains, and a touch of biscuits. Sweet taste of caramel, malts, again grains and cereals, and unfortunate delicate alcohol. Medium body. creamy texture, and below average carbonation. Finish is a bit watery but pleasant. Overall a simple beer, nothing special but enjoyable.

Shared a Bottle with Kroett. Pours a clear copper colour forming a dense white to cream coloured head. Aroma of malts, caramel and toffee. Little hints of fruity hops. Flavors of malt, nice toffee, caramel and nuts together with wood and earthy notes. Remindes me of moss and leaves in the autumn. Mouthfeel is creamy with fine carbonation. Overall a consistent beer. Personal associations with a tea-party at a moist autumn day.
