Our fourth beer to be brewed is Henrietta - named after one of the Portland family. Henrietta is a light golden ale. She’s low in strength but absolutely crammed full of wonderful hop character. There’s a good bitter note from Challenger hops which balances the citrus and grassy nose from Willamette and Hallertaur Brewers Gold.

Cask. Clear, bright gold. Thick, dense, creamy, sticky, lasting, white head. Looks like the kind of beer my dad would rave about. Nose has soft, toffee malts. Light, old world, spicy hop. A bit buttery, but ok buttery, not bad buttery. Taste is soft sweet. Light body. Creamy mouthfeel. Some caramel on the finish.

Cask. Pours light copper with white foam top. Aroma grassy with light citrus notes. Taste has a solid biscuity malt centre with light berry hop flavours surrounding it. Light body with a little salt in a bitter finish. A session worthy blond ale.

Cask conditioned at Harbury Beer Festival ’14. Pale gold with white head. Quite a light, delicate flavour, pleasing citrus, light fruitiness, perhaps just a little too thin but still pretty drinkable. Pleasant.

On the 3rd Oct 2013 my wife and I had 22 half-pints between us at the 35th Telford Beer Festival: this was one of those 22. Hand-pulled (on of 34 to choose from): pale golden body with a thin white head on our pour. The nose and taste were delicate and hoppy: herbal, floral and almost perfumed in nature. Nothing overpowering or strong to pontificate about, but a pleasant if unassuming brew.
