’Red Feather’ is brewed with all English ingredients, with plenty of crystal malt to give it a sweet caramel flavour balanced with English hops. The name comes from the Welbeck logo, a pair of red feathers which are used on everything Welbeck, including our pump clips.

Cask @ University Arms, Sheffield [181013]
Caramel brown, clear, frothy off white head
Aroma of light caramel malts, touch of cereal, little on the nose
Taste of light soft caramel, light fruits, touch of cerak, easy going, soft light malts, not that malty overall though but ok
Palate - Light body, bit oily. Finish - soft bitter english hops, soft malts
Overall - Standard English bitter, now’t exciting, but nothing bad about it either

Bottle, from Doddington Hall Farm Shop. Golden brown, thin shortlived white head and low condition. Gentle melon fruit and earthy hops in the nose, very soft and quite caramel sweet in the mouth initially but with a developing hoppy bitterness and some nuttiness, finish is slightly dry and hoppy with more lingering nutty notes.

Cask (handpump) at the Roebuck Inn (JD Wetherspoon), Nottingham on 13 July 2012. Darkish amber. Dryish malt on the aroma. Good balance of nutty malt and earthy hop on the palate. Very drinkable. Firm bitter finish. A solid, traditionally styled English bitter with plenty of flavour and not too much Crystal malt. Described on the brewery website as a seasonal but I have no idea which season as it seems to have been seen in all of them!
