daniel0017 (232), Ontario, Canada Mar 2, 2007 Don’t know why this would be dubbed a "bitter". Not very bitter at all. Robust and complex with a variety of roasted malts and a spicy aftertaste. Floral notes in the aroma. Poured a clear amber with one finger head and nice lace. Palate was a little watery and too carbonated. Decent stuff but doesn’t suit my fancy. MarkoR (224), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Feb 20, 2007 Bought a 6-pack. Nice brew. Small head. Nice orange-brown colour. Aromas of grain. Beer Snob (378), Ontario, Canada Dec 27, 2006 One of my favourite brewers... and a weak, watery excuse for a "bitter".
All I detected was a bit of malt and no aftertaste, no real flavour and no excitement. I’ve had bitters of the similar abv and they were loaded with flavour.
Honestly, other than the fact that this isn’t overcarbonated, you could slap a Sleeman or Molson label on it. TheJester (694), Peterborough, Ontario, Canada Dec 17, 2006 341 mL bottle. Orange-brown with virtually no head. Aroma of grain, tart fruit, and a bit of citrus. Fairly heavily carbonated. Taste is impressive for a light beer, although flavours are by no means powerful. Quite well balanced between malty sweetness and bitter hops. Thin mouthfeel. There certainly are no macro lights to match this beer. guzzler67 (1272), Hanover, Maryland, USA Nov 23, 2006 Clear, bright amber appearance with a small white head and meager lacing. Initially grassy nose evolved into a more toasted grain aroma. Moderately hopped, thin, bitter, slightly earthy taste. Mouthfeel was light bodied, well carbonated and a bit watery. Dry, clean, astringent finish. Slacks (481), Bolton, Ontario, Canada Nov 20, 2006 Cask @ The Woolwich Arms, Guelph, ON: What would happen if someone made a bitter that wasn’t? Pours golden in colour, somewhat opaque, with little to no head. Aroma is high on the sweet and toasty malts, hints of citrus fruit. The flavour is sweeter than I had thought it would be, and save for a bit of grapefruity hops near the end, there was very little bitter to be found. Average. hopdog (5534), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA Nov 10, 2006 Updated: Nov 11, 2006Bottle acquired in trade with blankboy (thanks!). Poured a deep amber color with a small sized off white head. Softer aromas and tastes of caramel, honey and a splash of citrus. Thinner (then again we had this after a couple of IPAs/IIPAs). Wouldn’t be a bad session beer. TomDecapolis (3130), Skippack, Pennsylvania, USA Nov 9, 2006 Thanks to hopdog. Pours a translucent golden amber with a small to no head. Aroma of grainy malts, honey and corn. Flavor was bready, sweat malts, some honey, caramel and kind of thin.
