Beer Fest, Toronto: Red-brown beer. Weak aromas of fruit and malt. Long bitter end. Light enough. Just good enough.

(Cannette de 473 ml): Biscuit grillé et rondement malté qui se laisse prendre par la sécheresse sans résister. Bitter honnête.

oz can to half-pint glass (shared with the Mrs.). Looks solid; a mostly transparent caramel orange with off-white head that dissipates into lacing pretty quickly. Smells malty and mildly toasty. A touch of toffee as well. Tastes like it smells, but thinner, and without the toffee. Average on the palate with mild carbonation. Okay.

Pour out of the baby blue tall can -- that states this is 4% & not the 3.5% listed here -- is mop sauce brown with a few clouds of foam scattered across the top. It’s a decent mix of malts & water & vague vegetableness. Not particularly exciting. Would probably go better with some charred meat & potatoes sloshed in oil & salt.

Draft - Toffee and some light twig. Clear deep gold with almost no head. Toffee and some nice earthy twig that is well balanced with sweetness. Really nice.

Nutty aroma with some fruity esters coming through. Light brown colour with an off white head that fizzles away rather quickly. There is a touch of nuttiness and caramel in the flavour. Has a smooth mouth feel and a balanced finish.

Bottle. Caramel and nutty aroma. Taste is nice and malty with some good English hops. This is better than I remember. Nice English ale.

Big can in a tulip. Pours deep amber with an off-white head. Aroma of bread and grains, some dough, and light bitterness. Flavor the same. Average texture. Pretty boring, but maybe ok for the style?

On tap. Clear brew with a burnt coppery colour, little head. Muted aroma, roast caramel and some weird green apple like note. Medium bodied, fast fisnish, watery mid palate and some caramel malt notes makes this a very boring beer. This beer reminds me of the older style of Ontario Craft beers that fail to be memorable.

Really nice beer - sort of like a harvest bitter. On cask at the brewery. Pours amber with a minimal head. Aroma is of light and biscuity malt, with lots of fresh English hops that contribute a flower and resiny aroma. Taste is light and balanced, with sweet light malt up front, and a mild hop bitterness towards the end.

on cask at the wooly. brownish red, minimal carbonation. the aroma was kind of earthy and sweet, but weak. The taste was much of the same - a bit of acidity, a bit of malt, but not much of anything. nice with pub food, but definitely boring on its own.

341 ml bottle @ Moon Room Ottawa. Pours a clear light amber with a pillowy white head. Aromas are funk and wet dog. Tastes are coppery malts, a little biscuit and roastiness, some caramel and borderline metallic. Light body, plenty of carbonation, and a short, slightly sweet finish. Interesting. ---Rated via Beer Buddy
