The definitive NZ amber beer opens with a subtle hop note at the front palate developing towards a nutty malt character.

Tasted 09/03/2005 at the Wellington Brewing Company. Tapped from tanks, I believe. Too cold.
The brown actually pours a dark gold with a bright filtered appearance. Head is tight and white; laces well. Aroma is of refried beans with little hopiness. Mouthfeel is watery and over carbonated, flavour is sweet malts and some hoppy bitterness. Teeth hurt this so cold - would need half an hour to warm up. Palate is left a little sweet.
