COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A robust and smooth chocolately stout brewed with fair trade Peruvian cocoa powder, lactose (milk sugar) and a touch of flaked oats. With an inviting aroma of dark chocolate and a silky smooth unfiltered malt body, this unique stout is the perfect winter treat.

Big bottle from my local LCBO capped and with a swing-top on the side. Like I was going to save any. Peshaw! Standard stout look. Oddly the stuff smells a lot like chocolate milk. I mean sure some chocolate, malts, but actual chocolate milk? Weird. The taste is sweet malty, roasted malt, some chocolate. It’s like they mixed beer and chocolate milk, rather than brewing it. But it works.

Tapped at Bryden’s pub in Toronto. Overall an interesting milk chocolate stout. The chocolate is present there, no doubt, in aroma and taste. Black color with a beige thick head. Taste is roasted malt, espresso, a lot of medium dark biter chocolate! Some mild sourness in the finish. Full body, not so easy to drink.

Bottle from the LCBO. Pours a deep almost-black with a dark ochre-tan head. Aroma and flavour both deliver the promised chocolate notes, along with a dark roasted maltiness. Flavour has a bit of coffee as well. Sweet, but not overly, and it finishes with a nice balance of dry roastiness and milky sweetness. Would like it to have a bit more body, but otherwise, a nice beer.

Cask. Black with a thin tan head. Cocoa, bourbon, licorice and a touch of smoke. Light carbonation and moderate body. Sweetness just in check. Full mouth feel. Enjoy in moderation. One of Welly’s better brews.

Thanks to ryan for this. Pours silky black with a dark brown head. Aroma is light chocolate, lactose and small roasted malts. Taste is lactose and milk chocolate with light toasted malts in the finish.

Decent stout, in can at Stouts. Good balance between sweet and bitter, though nothing extraordinary in either. Smooth mouthfeel, good drinkability.

[4763-20120914] Cask. Roasted bark malt aroma. Clear, very dark reddish brown body with no lasting head. Roasted light woody malt flavour has a thin creamy base. Medium-full body. Interesting creaminess. (7/3/6/3/14) 3.3

On tap at Imbibe: Pours deep black-brown with a smallish 1 finger beige cap. Modest carbonation. Aroma is roasty, with grains and cocoa with a ight sweet milk decernment, leafy hops. Mouth feel is a tap thin for the style but forgivable as the flavour is there. Flavour is roasty-chocolatey with ample hop balance the lactose sweetnes doen;t show uo until the finish and the creamy silky mouth feel never materializes. Not a bad stout, it is flavourful but it misses the mark if what the brewer was after was a creamy, milky chocolaty rich brew. Not bad but needs work.

On tap at Imbibe: Pours a deep black with a small tight tan cap. Moderate carbonation. Sweet lactose nose with some coca and roasty tones. Flavor is rather flat for such a good smelling Milk stout - roasty sweet in the front with little complexity, weak hopping even for the style. Long uneventful finish and a sweet aftertaste. I love milk stouts but this one is not my cup of tea.

Can from brewery. Pours thick black, with a brown had that dissipates quickly, leaving behind not even the slightest lacing. Mild aroma of sweet chocolate. Taste is... missing...? I can’t describe it as watery... there just seems to be nothing there - like my taste buds are broken - until the aftertaste which is quite nice - bitter and roasty. Maybe the beer is "too balanced" such that one cannot taste a single thing! Thick body is nice, but it’s a little flat.
