[4763-20120914] Cask. Roasted bark malt aroma. Clear, very dark reddish brown body with no lasting head. Roasted light woody malt flavour has a thin creamy base. Medium-full body. Interesting creaminess. (7/3/6/3/14) 3.3

On tap at Imbibe: Pours deep black-brown with a smallish 1 finger beige cap. Modest carbonation. Aroma is roasty, with grains and cocoa with a ight sweet milk decernment, leafy hops. Mouth feel is a tap thin for the style but forgivable as the flavour is there. Flavour is roasty-chocolatey with ample hop balance the lactose sweetnes doen;t show uo until the finish and the creamy silky mouth feel never materializes. Not a bad stout, it is flavourful but it misses the mark if what the brewer was after was a creamy, milky chocolaty rich brew. Not bad but needs work.

On tap at Imbibe: Pours a deep black with a small tight tan cap. Moderate carbonation. Sweet lactose nose with some coca and roasty tones. Flavor is rather flat for such a good smelling Milk stout - roasty sweet in the front with little complexity, weak hopping even for the style. Long uneventful finish and a sweet aftertaste. I love milk stouts but this one is not my cup of tea.

Can from brewery. Pours thick black, with a brown had that dissipates quickly, leaving behind not even the slightest lacing. Mild aroma of sweet chocolate. Taste is... missing...? I canít describe it as watery... there just seems to be nothing there - like my taste buds are broken - until the aftertaste which is quite nice - bitter and roasty. Maybe the beer is "too balanced" such that one cannot taste a single thing! Thick body is nice, but itís a little flat.

This stout poured a deep black colour with a big, brown, creamy head. To thte nose there are scents of coffee, cocoa, earth and burnt toast. First sip was smooth with medium carbonation. Flavours of coffee, very light cocoa (kind of disappointing level) and almost burnt toast. Finish is burnt withlight hop flavour lingering amoungst the sea of burnt.

Has a pungent aroma of musky malt with some smoke and a little lactose and coffee. Palate is a little watery. A little lacing, pours pretty black with some head. Some bitterness at the end. Pretty full taste - among Wellingtonís better. The lactose isnít that prominent. On tap at volos.

473mL can from the brewery, though I also had this on tap at Imbibe last night. The can is actually better and that is what Iím rating from (the can also says 7.2% abv). Pours a viscous dark brown with a large bubbly head that looks like it came from a cask. Aroma: anise, chocolate sauce, sweet rich malts, very nice. Flavour: Really nice smooth character, chocolate malts, mild anise, almost no bitterness or roasted malt character, and no booze presence at all. Dangerously easy-drinking for the strength. This is really one of the better Welly One-Off ventures.

On tap at the Only (Toronto Beer Week 2012 event). Pours a deep dark brown verging on black with decent-sized tan head. Aroma is anise and chocolate. Flavour is actually quite strong of anise with more subtle chocolate. Very fine carbonation. Nice.

Cask. Deep black pour with a tight white head. The nose is fairly chocolatey with some grassy/herbal flavour. A little bit of light sweetness and a touch of lingering light chocolate flavour. It doesnít come across as terribly milk chocolatey but itís okay.
