Cask. Deep black pour with a tight white head. The nose is fairly chocolatey with some grassy/herbal flavour. A little bit of light sweetness and a touch of lingering light chocolate flavour. It doesn’t come across as terribly milk chocolatey but it’s okay.

Decent stout, in can at Stouts. Good balance between sweet and bitter, though nothing extraordinary in either. Smooth mouthfeel, good drinkability.

UPDATED: DEC 13, 2012 2012-11-23. Quick notes. Les chocolatey than I remember. Pleasant relatively dry roast character. Smooth average plus to medium bodied palate. Chocolate comes out more as it warms up. Enjoyable. Can shared by Tupalev
2012-09-14. Dark black body, tiny brown head if you swirl it enough. 3+ Modest aroma, dryish cocoa, light roast, muted fruity accents. 6+ Flavour is also milder than expected, finishes dry, mild cocoa and roast. Alcohol is not strong on the tongue, but leaves the mouth lightly tingly, light fruit comes out as you go, not super chocolaty. 6+ Smooth medium to full bodied palate needs more carbonation. Aroma malty with chocolate hints , some alcohol. Fairly clean with slight roasty behind. Hint of smoke.
Appearance hazed , dark brown with medium beige top.
Flavor and Palate : medium light bodied. Chocolate, brown malts with umph of alcohol. Sides were tad thin.

Cask at C’est What Fall Festival of Small Breweries, Sept. 14. Pours a very dark brown with no head. Mild aroma of lightly roasted malt and chocolate. Flavour, also mild and a bit watery, of chocolate and malt -- not much going on here. Alcohol is well hidden. Medium bodied. Meh.

[4763-20120914] Cask. Roasted bark malt aroma. Clear, very dark reddish brown body with no lasting head. Roasted light woody malt flavour has a thin creamy base. Medium-full body. Interesting creaminess. (7/3/6/3/14) 3.3

473ml can from joel. black, short tan head, fizzy, ugly. aroma, lactose, bakers chocolate, roasted peanuts shells. flavour, indistinct dark malt, brown sugar, not much else. pretty messy but not unenjoyable. i wont be in a rush to have my other 2 cans.

Can, pours a nice black, a light head, aroma is chocolate and roast, the flavour is a bit milky and overall, it was quite nice

Has a pungent aroma of musky malt with some smoke and a little lactose and coffee. Palate is a little watery. A little lacing, pours pretty black with some head. Some bitterness at the end. Pretty full taste - among Wellington’s better. The lactose isn’t that prominent. On tap at volos.

On tap at the Only (Toronto Beer Week 2012 event). Pours a deep dark brown verging on black with decent-sized tan head. Aroma is anise and chocolate. Flavour is actually quite strong of anise with more subtle chocolate. Very fine carbonation. Nice.
