OKBeer (1159), Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada Oct 20, 2004 341 ml bottle courtesy pintbypint. Dark copper colour with a mostly lasting frothy off-white head. Caramel and light piny and earthy aroma. Caramel, earthy, bread, and fruity flavours. Light to medium bodied, lightly fizzy and juicy mouthfeel. dirkules (613), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Sep 22, 2004 Another delicious Wellington beer. This one has hops abound and a nice pale red colour with a quick disspating head. Floral aroma is typical of the brand with cherries and caramels in the taste. It’s weak in flavour like most of their brews, but still a decent drink. Reccomended nickchalk (229), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Sep 15, 2004 This is a decently hoppy ale, with typical caracteristics: reddish brown colour, lively hop aroma, caramelly flavour. Nonetheless, one senses that something is missing. Not bad though. Draught. pintbypint (1002), Edmonton, Alberta, Canada Sep 15, 2004 330ml brown bottle. Ruby brown brew with a short lived tan head. Flowery hops, caramel and dark malt in the aroma. Bold roasty flavour, great hopping. AlchemistZ (493), Richmond, Virginia, USA Sep 4, 2004 The dark ruby color of this ale shows its viscosity when swirled, head is tan. Aroma of strong, toasted caramel shows sweetness and black cherries. Flavor is strong but not intense malt and dark cherry fruit similar to a soft Sweet Tart. Hop bitterness kicks in just past mid-palate and balances the overall profile. There is a noticable sulphur component in Wellintons house character. mustang3 (254), Whitby, Canada Jul 29, 2004 On cask at C’est What. This was pretty average from the bottle, but fantastic on cask. The nose is very floral and that matches the lively golden colour. The flavour is soft citrus hops with floral notes, but not aggressive. Wheatsheaf (104), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jun 18, 2004 650ml bottle. Dark auburn topped by thin cap of foam that quickly collapses. Moderate aroma of bready malts and earthy hops. Light-to-medium body with a slightly grainy, textured mouthfeel. The flavour reveals caramel, rye bread, and a nutty maltiness up front, with crisp, leafy, earthy hops and a slight mineral tang quickly following behind. Hoppy finish, developing into a toffeeish aftertaste. Substantive, flavourful, and nicely balanced. Boutip (2334), Gatineau, Quebec, Canada Jun 14, 2004 Bottle: Poured a very dark brown beer with a nice head with medium retention. Aroma is really pleasant with malt and roastiness. Taste is very refreshing with again lots of malts and a very nice finish of roastiness. Body is above average with OK carbonation. Overall, I was quite surprise by what I thought would be another classic English ale; it proved to had more character then expected and I’m starting to really like this brewery.
