Bottle: Courtesy of HogTownHarry via trade. Aromas of chocolate, caramel, nuts, and a hint of coffee. Pours a transparent reddish-brown with a small off-white head that quickly fades to a tiny ring around the edges of the glass. Chocolate and caramel up front fade to a nutty and flowery bitter finish. Simple, but drinkable.

Draught at The Rhino. Pours a clear dark ruby with a small off-white head. Nice sweet aroma of roasted malt, caramel and some chocolate. Flavour also of roasted malt, caramel and chocolate along with brown sugar and light bitter finish. Medium bodied. Good stuff and much better than I anticipated, I’d happily get this again.

Very pleasing dark ale. Caramel notes with a minimal head, light sweetness, full body, and average carbonation. Recommended to those who want to try a dark-ale for the first time. Not off-putting to the genre at all.

Pours a ruby amber color with a thin offwhite head. Aroma of malt, crème brulée and brown sugar. Good flavor of toffee, crème brulée. brown sugar and mild roasted malt with a bitter finish. The body has a light to medium thickness with an oily texture an low carbonation. Interesting beer, I don’t see it as a Pale Ale but more a sweet brown ale, whatever, I like it.

Dark copper/ruby body topped with a pretty decent and lasting off-white frothy head. Pleasant malty/hoppy aroma with roasty and brown sugar notes. Well balanced taste dominated by Fuggle hops flavors. It ends with a good bitter finish. This is a good example of English Pale Ale.

Bright orange/copper color with a taller dark beige head. Sweet roasted malt, light coffee and dark chocolate in the aromas. Nose dulls after a bit, but a nice start. Smooth flavors, just not a lot of them. Roasted nuts and caramel seem to be all I get out of this one. A mild dark malt bitterness in the finish. Thanks jerc.

Bottle. Excellent fairly tasty light-bodied brown ale, character is not unlike the stronger Iron Duke. Well made with light caramelly malts, creamy refreshing palate and soft hops sparking politely in the gentle carbonation. Doesn’t have huge palate or finish but then it’s not supposed to, dig? I’d take it any day but Iron Duke would be my first choice.

Not a terrible english pale but not as much oomph as I would hav eliked. Rich dark brown copper colour. Malty and somewhat earthy. Slightly thin mouthfeel although still more character than many basic local offerings. Roasty - almost to the point of burnt - caramel malts and some dark fruit. Not bad.
