Slacks (355), Bolton, Ontario, Canada Aug 18, 2006 Updated: Nov 20, 2006 Cask @ The Woolwich Arms, Guelph, ON: Had a chance to try this on a proper hand pump - I’ll keep the old review as it’s most proper to what the average person can expect. Oddly, on cask it seemed to lose a lot of the subtle niceties I enjoyed on draught previously. It’s interesting to have it in this form, but it became a very muted version of the draught version. Try it to say you did.<P>
Original 060818 Draught @ Cheek’s, Bolton, ON: An exceptionally well done pale ale, this one caught me by surprise. Came with a thick off-white head, dark brown body with a red hue near the top and burnt orange around the bottom of the glass. Aroma of roasted malts and chocolate, hints of hops and caramel. Flavour is a clean hit of hops on the tongue to start, makes way to a rich cover of chocolate on the tongue, trailing to roasted nuts after the swallow. I’m highly impressed with this one.
KyotoLefty (110), Kyoto, Japan Aug 27, 2008 Draught at the Cloak and Dagger, Toronto. Rich, well balanced dark ale. Hints of chocolate, caramel, molasses. Relatively sweet but with a very good hop balance. Rich malts and cereals, with a smooth, creamy body. Well done. dchmela (702), Orlando, Florida, USA Aug 19, 2008 473ml Can courtesy MrManning from a long ago trade. Reddish brown pour, slightly watery with a thin white head. Caramel malt and bread dough aroma. Smooth malty taste with hints of caramel sweetness. Decent session Pale Ale. DuffMan (1939), Calgary, Alberta, Canada Jul 9, 2008 Supercan. Sweet caramel, dry leafy tea-like hops, a little on the thin side. Decent enough. mgermani (595), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Jul 6, 2008 Pours a slightly hazy brown with an off-white head with decent retention. Nice fruitcake aroma with notes of alcohol. Tastes much like my Dad’s homebrew, in that it has a wide range of malt flavours, a bit of residual sweetness, but it’s a tad watery. Good bitterness, no hop aroma or finish. Low carb, thin body. Sessionable, balanced, tastes more like a brown ale than a pale. Average. Barnabus (28), Niagara, Ontario, Canada Jul 4, 2008 Bottle from brewery. Pours a reddish-brown with a frothy head. Aroma is minimal and little to distinguish it. Really nice palate with mild carbonation. A lightly bitter finish.
