3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 matt7215 (1928) - Cambridge, Ontario, - JUN 3, 2012473ml can from the brewery. golden with a white head. big pale malt nose, the hopping is there but its restrained. the alcohol is there in the flavour, big pale malt body weird hop flavour, reminds me of the hop flavouri get from most hefes. the finish is pretty dry and there is a wallop of late bitterness. most interesting then drinkable.
2.7 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 Tessic (746) - Brantford, Ontario, CANADA - OCT 26, 2012
This ale poured a cloudy light amber colour with a huge , white, foamy head. A little lacing. Scents include ripe fruit, pineapple, light blue cheese and dough. First sip was smooth and slightly sour with flavours of citrus, butter and hay. Finish is medium bitter with the cirus hop flavour lingering.
1.7 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20 JesseM (1099) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - JUN 10, 2012
Can from the brewery. Pours a mostly clear gold with an only semi-existent head. Aroma is kind of dull, pale malts and booze, some weird dankness that seems unintentional. Flavour is equally unimpressive, same bland pale malts with a dry finish. The hop aspects are completely flaccid and a non-event. Booze becomes apparent the more you drink, though it’s not over-powering, but it definitely does not compliment the whole thing. The booze is kind of raw and indicative of over-attenuation. Body is thicker, with a slightly oily feel, contradicted by the carbonation. I’m kind of disappointed with this one, the only Welly One-Off that really seems to have failed. It’s not completely undrinkable, but it certainly isn’t enjoyable. I didn’t intend for the numbers to end up so harsh, but there just isn’t much to give points to here.
2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Sammy (7034) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JUN 9, 2012
Released June 1st. Pours grapefruit, with a small amount of white head. Malt and booze aroma. Boozy taste, with a medium grapefruit hops flavour. Reasonably drinkable. Interesting and different, though weak for the style. Average mouthfeel.
2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 pootzboy (1451) - Hawgville, Ontario, CANADA - JUN 7, 2012
UPDATED: JUN 20, 2012 can from the brewery - clear gold with 1 finger white cap. Aroma is mostly that of cooked cereals, some grassiness. Front side of the flavor profile has a pleasant malt character then the hopping becomes unpleasantly bitter and the whole drink remains bitter through the finish to a metalic aftertaste and blast of alcohol. A very 2 dimensional beer with a bizare flavor profile - over boiled hops that simply provide pointless bitterness, alcohol is hot and poorly hidden. Poor drinkability unless really cold This is one welly experiment that flopped.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 ontbeermaker (1832) - Ontario, CANADA - JUN 3, 2012
Can, pours golden, decent head, aroma is strong and has a nice bitter taste, finish harsh at first and then the flavours come out and there some kind of fruity notes in there and overall it was enjoyable
