3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Not as fruity or burnt as some Imperials, IDIS comes across as a suped-up version of an Irish stout. It is hard to brew a stout this big without a lot of esters, so it is somewhat unique in that respect. Lots of rich, mocha-like malt flavours, adequate bitterness, and a long, dry, roasty finish.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
473 mL can to snifter (shared with the Mrs.). Looks good; a mostly opaque dull black with foamy beige head. Smells solid; dark malt, chocolate, roast, and toast. Tastes like it smells with a medium-bodied mouthfeel. Enjoyable.

3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20
473 mL can from the LCBO. Pours a dark black with no head. Roasted coffee and chocolate aromas. Heavily carbonated. Bitter roast on the tongue, like espresso. Long finish. An interesting stout but not one I'd order again.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Can from the LCBO. Deep black pour with a small tight tan head that fades quickly to a sheet. Nose is roasted malts, coffee, dark fruits and faint vanilla and chocolate. Lightly sweet toffee start followed by bitter coffee and roasted nuts with a little smokiness and a warming bitter finish. Medium slick palate with soft carbonation.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
A little disappointed with this one. Dark with little head. Aroma of roasted malts. Semisweet but a touch watery. Perhaps the airport place I got it doesn’t know how to keep the beers properly. I’d like to try it again.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
473ml can. Pours black with a half finger, mocha head. Aroma has large notes of dark fruits mixed with milder roasted malts, and faint coffee. Taste is a balanced bitter with notes of dark fruits, roasty malts, and a mild, espresso bitter finish. Medium-full body with a medium carbonation. Slightly creamy texture with a dry mouth feel. Overall pretty nice. More dark fruit flavours than most other stouts I’ve had. Interesting but tasty.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
473ml can in a tulip. Pours near black with a beige head. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate, a little coffee, some dough, and light bitterness. Flavor the same. Smoother, thicker texture. A solid beer.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Can LCBO: almost black pour with small brown head. Soft aromas of toasted coffee beans, sweet malts, and nuts. Bold flavours of coffee and dark chocolate covered nuts. Smooth for the style but balanced by a pleasant bitterness. Simply delectable.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Great value. Very satisfying imperial stout for under $3 from the LCBO.
A solid representation of the style. Nothing exceptional, but solid all round.
