3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Sampled at the GCBF. Looks like coffee. Smells like roasted... prunes. Feels like I’m baking a fruitcake here. Mouth of prunes, coffee, nondescript spice. Malt much much stronger than the hops and when plugging the nose the sweet wins out... I think that’s the reason that, while I do like impies, I don’t hold them in quite high regard as other reviewers. I just don’t care for sweet things in general. However, because the "roasted prunes" are so strong here I consider this much better than average for the style, and this seems perfect for an early winter drink. Too bad we don’t get winters here.

After work pour at the Old Nick is tall, dark & handsome with a thin cap. The imperial stout washes my worries away. Not as tough as some others of the style but fine by me.

Pours opaque black. Only a tiny hint of brown at the edge of the dark brown head. Aroma of coffee and dark chocolate. Flavour is grainy bitter, some coffee. Body is just barely medium. Finish is alcohol and grain bitterness.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
473ml can pours black in color with a finger and a half of light brown head that leaves some nice lacing on the glass. Aroma is dark chocolate and coffee with some roasted grains. Taste is chocolate malty sweetness with some dark fruits as well and a light roasted grain and coffee bitterness. Full bodied with light carbonation. Quite a nice stout at a very reasonable price. Well done, Wellington!

3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
It pours opaque black with slight brown highlight; the head is tan and foamy. The aroma has notes of: coffee, milk-chocolate, toffee, baked bread, and sweet grains. The taste is light sweet that finishes medium bitter; there are notes of: milk-chocolate, coffee, charcoal, alcohol, and slight berry notes. The palate is medium-full bodied, has a thick mouth-feel (light carbonation), and a long bitter finish. Overall, a very well priced beer for the quality, could easily recommend it as a staple-drink.

Can while in Toronto. A good deal at liquor store for 2.80. Pours a thick black color. Medium head. Aroma of roasted malt, cocoa, coffee bean. A pretty smooth, rich, complex stout. Would get again.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Coffee, dark chocolate and toasted malt aromas dominate this. Medium coffee bitterness and light chocolate/malt sweetness balance out well in here. A very nice, bold flavor. Really enjoyable and easily worth trying again

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
This is a dark brown, almost black beer with a thin tan coloured head. The aroma is ALL about the coffee. There is some roasted malt and toffee in the air, but the coffee overpowers all of them. The flavour is more of the same. The roasted malt/coffee combination overpowers them all.
