Sampled at the GCBF. Looks like coffee. Smells like roasted... prunes. Feels like Iím baking a fruitcake here. Mouth of prunes, coffee, nondescript spice. Malt much much stronger than the hops and when plugging the nose the sweet wins out... I think thatís the reason that, while I do like impies, I donít hold them in quite high regard as other reviewers. I just donít care for sweet things in general. However, because the "roasted prunes" are so strong here I consider this much better than average for the style, and this seems perfect for an early winter drink. Too bad we donít get winters here.

From my friend Melissa. Black with brown foam. sweet mildly burned malt in the aroma with a hint of alcohol. Sweet, candy, with sweet burned aftertaste. Highly drinkable

UPDATED: NOV 13, 2014 473 can from the LCBO. Black/brown body that pours in an oily fashion with a deep tan head thatís thin and dissipates quickly. Alcohol choclate and vanilla notes are present. Espresso as well. Oily texture, roasty overall.

473 mL can to snifter (shared with the Mrs.). Looks good; a mostly opaque dull black with foamy beige head. Smells solid; dark malt, chocolate, roast, and toast. Tastes like it smells with a medium-bodied mouthfeel. Enjoyable.

473 mL can from the LCBO. Pours a dark black with no head. Roasted coffee and chocolate aromas. Heavily carbonated. Bitter roast on the tongue, like espresso. Long finish. An interesting stout but not one I'd order again. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Can from the LCBO. Deep black pour with a small tight tan head that fades quickly to a sheet. Nose is roasted malts, coffee, dark fruits and faint vanilla and chocolate. Lightly sweet toffee start followed by bitter coffee and roasted nuts with a little smokiness and a warming bitter finish. Medium slick palate with soft carbonation.

A little disappointed with this one. Dark with little head. Aroma of roasted malts. Semisweet but a touch watery. Perhaps the airport place I got it doesnít know how to keep the beers properly. Iíd like to try it again.

473ml can. Pours black with a half finger, mocha head. Aroma has large notes of dark fruits mixed with milder roasted malts, and faint coffee. Taste is a balanced bitter with notes of dark fruits, roasty malts, and a mild, espresso bitter finish. Medium-full body with a medium carbonation. Slightly creamy texture with a dry mouth feel. Overall pretty nice. More dark fruit flavours than most other stouts Iíve had. Interesting but tasty.

Can thanks to Chad. Pours very dark brown/almost black with brown head. Nose/taste of roast chocolate, coffee, vanilla, and roasted sweet barley. Medium body.

473ml can in a tulip. Pours near black with a beige head. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate, a little coffee, some dough, and light bitterness. Flavor the same. Smoother, thicker texture. A solid beer.

Can LCBO: almost black pour with small brown head. Soft aromas of toasted coffee beans, sweet malts, and nuts. Bold flavours of coffee and dark chocolate covered nuts. Smooth for the style but balanced by a pleasant bitterness. Simply delectable.
