wilderthanyou (306), Guelph, Ontario, Canada Jun 26, 2007 Pours a black, and think, with no head, but some of the nicest lacing i’ve ever seen. Aswell as one of the more complex aromas i’ve smelt in a long time, strong notes of molasses and coffee, with lighter notes of sweet roasted malts and dark chocolate. Flavoour of roasted malts, coffee, big notes of unsweetend dark chocolate, and finishes with a sweet note of raisins. Top notch. Well balanced, perfect level of carbonation, and a nice chewy mouth feel. A reall tasty treat, glad I bought a few of these. Not my favourite stout, but it’s availability means i’ll probably be buying this brew quite a bit.
chops (28), Brantford, Ontario, Canada Aug 9, 2008 First and foremost I love imperial stouts. I was excited ti have draft imperial stout in southern ontario. This was a good beer, but I was hoping for better! I wil drink it again tho. hip_hop (84), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jul 10, 2008 The black body of this brew is topped by a medium thick, brown head with a good amount of lacing left behind. The aroma is sweet, malty and full of caramel notes with a slight roastiness. The aroma reminds me more of a dopplebock than an imperial stout. The malt flavor is slightly sweet and roasty with notes of caramel. Full bodied and slightly dry. Sledge Jr (2708), Omaha, Nebraska, USA Jun 24, 2008 Cask version on tap at C’est What? A black beer. Medium-thick dark beige head. Coffee and licorice aroma. This has a nice burn. It’s thinner in body than I’d prefer. Milk chocolate finish. Leaves something to be desired. yumyum (50), barrie, Ontario, Canada May 18, 2008 pours black as one might expect. Had it on cask so was minimal head and made for a very smooth drink. Coffee flavour with slight bitter finish. Not quite as complex as other imperial stouts. In terms of canadian imperial stouts it is up there but john by is still the champ for me thusfar. railcat1 (485), Hammond, Indiana, USA Apr 23, 2008 This was a rich dark and complex beer with a heavy coffee flavor and some bitterness in the finish,it had a lot of roasty malts and poured with almost no head.CHEERS!
