Beer Snob (350), Ontario, Canada Jul 26, 2005 How have I not drank this before now?
Wonderful ale - nice and dark with a nutty roasted malt aroma. Good strong flavour with a sweetness that pokes through.
Wonderful creamy aftertaste.
Well done!
WeeHeavySD (1699), San Diego (Hillcrest), California, USA Aug 18, 2008 12oz bonus via Puzzl. Pours dark brown with a 1 finger tan head. Nose is sweet and nutty. Taste is sweet with some nice chewy malts, basically a brown ale, with a bit of oomph. Barnabus (28), Niagara, Ontario, Canada Jul 4, 2008 Bottle from the Brewery. Chestnut brown with fizzy light brown head. Aroma is of malt, caramel and strong coffee with a very similar taste. Palate is fizzy and light to medium. It has a short, slightly bitter finish and, while enjoyable, is overall nothing too special. hip_hop (84), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jun 15, 2008 Dark chestnut in colour. limited head in trappist glass. Aroma is nutty malt, taste is similar. One of my favourite picks available for take-home in Ontario. GMCC2181 (344), Bear, Delaware, USA May 29, 2008 Another brew from Matt7215! Pours a dark brown color, small head. Aroma is kind of weak but maybe some sweet fruits. Taste is dry. Malty and a hint of nuttiness (just like the commercial description says). Easy to drink. This is my first English Strong Ale that I know of....Its not half bad. Thanks again matt for all the beers. jjpm74 (2878), Connecticut, USA May 20, 2008 Bottle courtesy of matt7215. Pours ruby red with a thin white head. Smells of fruit, sweet malt. Tastes of light fruit, earthy, bitter. Nice!
