Brown in color with a diminishing tan head. Honey roasted peanut aromas. Quite sweet in the nose with some added floral parts that add to the sweetness. Mild fruits and nuts mix about during the journey across the palate. Very simple. Very drinkable, but just seems simple. Perhaps that is a quality in some way as this 6.5%. Thanks jerc for the sample. This seems to grow on me the further into the bottle I get. Smooth with a very light carbonation.

Strong aroma you don't have to search for. Sweet and malty. Dark copper with fairly active small bubbles and very light head. Initial taste of malt, comfortable prescence of alcohol and an excellent lasting hop finish. A certain combination of smoke, walnut and spruce is present as well.

I don’t know about strong. Pours a slight head with a brown body. Rather average with a slight bitter finish...

Very good, molasses cake aroma with chocolate. Dark brown, but still transparent. Love the redcoat on the bottle. Very smooth, goes a bit acidic. Bitter chocolate, stewed fruit. ABV shines through at times. Velvety feeling, but the body is mostly medium weight. Some green fruit or grassiness in the finish, followed by parched grain. Very good.

341ml bottle pours a dark amber color with a 2 finger light beige head that has decent retention and leaves a thin spotty lacing on the glass. Aroma is caramel malts and earthy hops. Taste is caramel malt sweetness with hints of chocolate and a moderate hoppy bitter finish. Decently balanced flavors with a medium body and moderate carbonation. A fairly decent beer for the style.

341 ml bottle at Pub Italia in Ottawa, in the company of CapFlu. A frothy fast-dying bubbly tan head tops the dark amber-maple body....hugely caramel-sweet aroma offers raisins and plums and faint but subtly pleasing hints of alcohol as well, inviting and dark....loads of brown sugar-caramel in the body, a touch of ashy-woody character, very creamy-smooth mouthfeel, perhaps a bit thin but oh-so drinkable, alcohol not at all present on the tongue. Quite nice.

This beer has a beautiful deep ruby color with a fluffy off-white head that left a nice lace on the glass. The initial sensation is of an intensely malty beer that warms up to bring out the sherry, caramel tones. The finish is nice a clean and very balanced. I would have guessed the ABV to be a little higher. A very good beer.

Deep red; a perfect wood stain color. Frothy head. Rich flavor. Bold & full-bodied, yet controlled. Smooth, dry finish with a hint of fruity-alcohol aroma.
