sinkhole (121), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada Jul 19, 2007 Bottle: Pours clear dark brown with minimal head. Aroma of light sweet carmels and roasted malts, which follow through to the initial taste. Found a bit of a alcohol finish at the end.
Overall, a nice beer, but I probably won’t have it again.
Barnabus (28), Niagara, Ontario, Canada Jul 4, 2008 Bottle from the Brewery. Chestnut brown with fizzy light brown head. Aroma is of malt, caramel and strong coffee with a very similar taste. Palate is fizzy and light to medium. It has a short, slightly bitter finish and, while enjoyable, is overall nothing too special. hip_hop (81), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jun 15, 2008 Dark chestnut in colour. limited head in trappist glass. Aroma is nutty malt, taste is similar. One of my favourite picks available for take-home in Ontario. GMCC2181 (324), Bear, Delaware, USA May 29, 2008 Another brew from Matt7215! Pours a dark brown color, small head. Aroma is kind of weak but maybe some sweet fruits. Taste is dry. Malty and a hint of nuttiness (just like the commercial description says). Easy to drink. This is my first English Strong Ale that I know of....Its not half bad. Thanks again matt for all the beers. jjpm74 (2811), Connecticut, USA May 20, 2008 Bottle courtesy of matt7215. Pours ruby red with a thin white head. Smells of fruit, sweet malt. Tastes of light fruit, earthy, bitter. Nice! Bungalo22 (238), Bridgeport, Connecticut, USA May 4, 2008 Poured from the bottle into a pint glass. The aroma reminded me of that of a Dubbel. It was malty and full of some nuts and fruits. It was smooth and flavorable and bettered as it got closer to room temperature. very impressed with this ale.
